Oct 31st 2009 12:48PM Worth a shot. Thanks!

Canonical bumps Ubuntu One paid accounts to 50GB, pulling even with Dropbox (Download Squad)

Oct 3rd 2009 11:06AM I think it's an awesome service to be offering... but unfortunately any syncing service which isn't completely cross platform isn't really viable in my book. This isn't even a case where you can pick a god app on each OS, a sync app must run on all of them.

Netscape founder backing Facebook-only web browser? (Download Squad)

Aug 14th 2009 9:13AM Meh.... I've always felt like Facebook wants to be its own little crippled version of the internet. Maybe my paranoid rantings aren't as far out as everyone says?

Is Google Chrome OS a Windows killer? Or just a Jolicloud killer? (Download Squad)

Jul 8th 2009 10:58AM While I do think this idea is a tricky sell, Google Gears could at least enable you to use basic apps (docs, email, etc...) offline. Also, a lightweight embedded web server could enable you to install local apps while maintaining the "in browser" continuity.

Dec 11th 2008 4:37PM Free? You'd need to pay *me* to install that junk on my computer.

Opera 10 Alpha 1 web browser passes the Acid3 test (Download Squad)

Dec 4th 2008 11:01AM "And if the two most popular web browsers on the face of the earth don't fully meet these web standards, what good are they exactly?"

And thus the situation we're in now, where IE8 has almost as many compatibility modes as vista has "skews." Perfect Acid3 compliance is not the end all, but comparing IE's compliance with Firefox's is just insulting. People who write off web standards as irrelevant are a liability to the craft.

Jay's Favorite Mac Apps: Transmission (Download Squad)

Oct 14th 2008 10:59AM Transmission is definitely a favorite of mine. It's the default bittorrent client on Ubuntu, by the way...

HDRwalls: stunning wallpaper for your computer or portable (Download Squad)

Feb 1st 2008 1:13PM I agree that a lot of HDR stuff looks horrible, but certain types of photos can look pretty spectacular. Unfortunately I won't be able to check this particular set out since we seem to have killed the site! :)
