Why You're Not a "Moron" If You Enjoyed 'Machete' (Cinematical)
Sep 5th 2010 2:31PM Favorite movie? Top Hat. Could watch that all day. Machette was looking like a fun over the top movie but I hear that it turned into a liberal - Pro Illegal Immigration movie. That's a shame and therefore a movie I won't support with my cash money. If you're going to put a liberal message in a movie make sure there are lots of flying dragons and blue aliens in it and great special effects, otherwise stick to doing a entertaining movie. For Political education and propaganda make it so I'm otherwise entertained like in the movie 'Hero' - an absurd pro government message but otherwise a beautiful movie.
Weekend Box Office: Old Fogey Action Heroes Rocket Past 'Pilgrim' (Cinematical)
Aug 16th 2010 2:30PM This is always my favorite part - the anguish of critics who deeply desire a particular movie to be loved by everyone and embraced over other 'inferior' movies. Especially when their particular movie only appeals to 15 to 20 year olds. The only only one of those movies I'd go to see is the Expendables.
5 apps for the Buddhist (TUAW.com)
Jul 28th 2010 1:36PM Well, thanks for the posting, I'm picking up the Ultimate Buddhist Library because of your coverage. I come here and read about things I don't otherwise have the time to wade through and often find information about apps and apple products that I might not otherwise find out about. Tech and apps! Politics/religion - plenty of other places.
5 apps for the Buddhist (TUAW.com)
Jul 28th 2010 1:23PM Well Toby, There are Monks and then there are the rest of us. Much the same way that you can be Catholic without being the Pope, or Protestant without being a Reverend you can be Buddhist without being a Monk, the Dali Lama or a Rinpoche. And if you're not just trolling what you are referring to is the idea of attachments - attachment to things, material things to the point that those material possessions possess you. I refer you to the George Carlin bit about 'Stuff' - we gather 'stuff' and more and more stuff, until we have so much stuff that we need to be a bigger house for our stuff, and then even put our stuff in storage so we have more room for more stuff in our houses. - Our stuff owns us.
Lower Merion, PA school district denouement nears: report denies spying charges (Engadget)
May 6th 2010 9:46AM This is a bit of a PR push rather than actual news. You say yourself that a lawyer hired by the school has something to say - what a surprise - he's saying 'nothing to see here, there was no spying done.' Excuse me? The Lawyer hired by the school? That doesn't sound like a Judge, a Jury or anything close to that. To say that this now is a done story is really you guys just repeating the claims of someone who represents the School District under fire. That's news? Sounds like a press release uncritically pushed forth by you guys. Shame on you.
Apple no longer requiring proof of AT&T contract for iPhone purchase (TUAW.com)
Mar 22nd 2010 11:08PM You know, I've been waiting and hoping that Apple would get off the exclusive relationship with AT&T for some time now. I don't have an iPhone, I have an iTouch and would love the chance to have the iPhone with T-Mobile. Teases like this, the rumor of the iPhone going to open up for T-Mobile, all very frustrating. Even a unlocked phone at a high price would be worth it. But what will happen is that with phones like the HTC-HD2 I can see the 'iphone experience' coming to other devices and then pretty soon folks like me will find a substitute that will be more than good enough. I mean, you can only keep the teasing up for so long before we lose interest.
T-Mobile USA eyeing iPhone launch this year or next? (Engadget)

Sid Meier's Civilization V coming to PC this fall (Joystiq)
Feb 18th 2010 6:22PM Sounds like it could be cool. Of course what's really cool is that the whole of CIV IV came out with all the addons including Colonization for under 30 Bucks - and without DRM. Sure I'm rocking it late but it's cheaper, without DRM and complete. All good. CIV V probably won't even play on Windows XP computers and Starcraft looks like it's going to need a Super Computer to even start. Still gotta love the CIV though.
Plants vs. Zombies hits the iPhone (TUAW.com)
Feb 17th 2010 3:48PM AH jeez, this article is up because this game is popular, people are interested in it and people come here to read interesting news about Apple products and related software and items. It would be impossible for them to only post articles and information that is of interest to you and you alone or me and me alone. That's an easy enough explanation for you in case you were actually wondering. I have the PC version and got the iTouch version. I'm an adult, they have games as well as applications on the iTouch and iPhone, this is one of the games. A popular game and it's fun. Thanks TUAW for posting about it.
Have we seen the end of the $9.99 eBook? (TUAW.com)
Feb 2nd 2010 11:39AM Ah well, we can rage and discuss but the final analysis will come with the sales. I personally will not buy MacMillian ebooks at 15 bucks a pop. I just refuse, they have created 'bad will' with me with this and my 'vote' will come in the absence of sales and actual sales to their competitors, it's discretionary dollars they are vying for after all and there are plenty of competitors selling similar wares. Some few folks will buy a book at the list price who knows where since I don't know anywhere that sells books at list - always at a discount. Some will get the initial sale price plus their ten percent discount at Barnes and Noble, some will wait til that 'really cool book' is sitting over at the discount table at 5 bucks or get it at Goodwill for a buck. We all have our own personal price points where we'll buy something and the 15 dollar ebook is above what I will pay.
