Give Safari a Stand (Download Squad)
Jul 12th 2005 3:38PM I have another thing that will impress you: add the following two urls to your bookmarks bar: safaristand://jp.hetima.history/ safaristand://jp.hetima.bookmark/ They allow you to search your history and bookmarks, respectivly. And for the final touch, put them among your first 9 items on the bookmarks bar, and you have hotkey access to easially searchable history and bookmarks. (hit CMD-1 if it's the first item, CMD-2 for the second ... etc... ) I believe some of this info is from Jon Hicks (HicksDesign.co.uk & PimpMySafari.com)
TUAW Chat room (TUAW.com)
Jun 24th 2005 7:13PM You could use IRC, which is in my humble opinion a LOT faster than the system you now have set up. And there are are TONS of clients for it. (Web based and otherwise)
Reminder: Looking for a 4th TUAW Blogger (TUAW.com)
May 26th 2005 6:07PM What are the requirements to do be one of your bloggers? I'm a high school student who loves computers (my Mac) and has been a Apple/Mac user for about a year. Is that ok? Should I even bother to apply?
Silly Survey Sunday: Have you upgraded to Tiger? (TUAW.com)
May 22nd 2005 11:29AM I've bought Tiger, but what's holding me back? At first I was waiting for 10.4.1, and for Apple to fix any initial problems, but now I'm just waiting until I'm done with school in a month or so. As great as Tiger sounds, my current system is stable, and I can't risk loosing that stability right before finals when I have two papers to work on.
Save Me (TUAW.com)
May 12th 2005 4:02PM Can anyone varify a claim made in a MacUpdate comment about this program? "Comment by Anonymous: Just wait for Tiger folks... They're building in the ability for any app to quit without asking you to save... Why? Because it will automatically do that for you." http://macupdate.com/reviews.php?id=17166&pid=90680 When someone tried to ask about this on MacUpdate, there was a very uninformative response: "I hope the second comment was in jest -- I truly hope so." Thanks ahead of time!
Terminal Tips: Man Pages (TUAW.com)
Mar 22nd 2005 8:02PM I would try Bwana http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/16432. It allows viewing of man pages in safari. If you combine it with Sogudi http://macupdate.com/info.php/id/13258 you can open the 'ls' man page in safari by typing 'man ls' in the location bar. I think it works rather well, and in my opinion it makes viewing man pages a lot easier.
Freeware February: Markdown (TUAW.com)
Feb 28th 2005 7:22PM Instead of trying to install it into Text Wrangler, why not make it available in ALL of your applications (e.g. SubEthaEdit, TextEdit... what have you...) Try Humane Text Service http://gu.st/proj/HumaneText.service/ It converts Markdown to HTML (and vise-versa), automatically with a keyboard shortcuts. Oh, and it's free.
Freeware February: VoodooPad Lite (TUAW.com)
Feb 12th 2005 10:11PM I also use VoodooPad full edition. As high school student, I don't buy a lot of software, but VP was my first purchase! The Lite edition is great, but I can almost guarantee if you like the Lite one you'll LOVE the full one. But anyway, VP is amazing. I spent forever looking for my perfect organizational tool, and with VP I think I found it. While it may not be for everyone, I enjoy it. Download the Lite one, and try it, you might be surprised how much you'll like it.
Apple has a little fun with the fine print (TUAW.com)
