Apr 1st 2011 5:38AM * user data is backupped daily using rsync-based routine as follow
.first rsync to second internal disk
.followed by rsync to network disk in secure room ( dlink dns323 with mirrored discs)

*on the dns323 the last 200 daily backups are kept ( by using symbolic links, space requirements are under control).
backup older than 200 days are all deleted except the first of the month - of which 36 are kept.
as such, backup spans 200 days + 3 previous years

*every 3 months, a backup of the user data is burned on dvd's.
*every 6 months, an image is made of the pc (acronis) on usb external disk.

this paranoid scheme is the result of me once erroneously deleting my only backup set followed by a disc crash, losing valuable data in the process.

InstallPad: Automated software download and installation (Download Squad)

Nov 4th 2006 6:58PM Could this help with automating/getting the latest updates of software?
for example: on my machines, I use the great tools from sysinternals. But on the various machines, the latest version is not always present. Instead of manually downloading and unzipping the files, it would be great to click one button to check and update if needed.
