Sep 19th 2010 1:38PM I never really understood the obsession to make programs (or OSes for that matter) start and shutdown "almost instant[ly]". I can't remember the when I last started my web browser on the machine I am composing this comment upon. Let's say that it was one week ago.
So, if the browser started up in, say, 15 seconds instead of 30 one week ago why would that matter?
