What the hell happened to MSNBC? (AOL TV)

Jul 17th 2008 8:21PM I think that you misunderstand the meaning of "Comcastic." The situation that you describe - where you were getting a service that you enjoyed but some how Comcast managed to screw it up - is the very definition of Comcastic in my book.

Heroes: Cautionary Tales (AOL TV)

Nov 20th 2007 11:09AM WHY DIDN'T YOU PUT THE SPOILERS BELOW THE FOLD WITH A WARNING?!?!

There's this magical device called TiVo that a few of us have, and we'd prefer not to know things like, oh say, who shots HRG before we've seen the episode.

You guys are really close to getting pulled from my blog roll if you keep up this sort of crap.

Thank you.

I think I'll mix it up and go with the Fuzzy Bunnies ("Sorry, we're not actually Fuzzy Bunnies. We're a couple of college students.")

I hope the rand() function is smiling on my post id number today!

eBay Desktop lets you shop too much without a web browser (Download Squad)

Oct 1st 2007 4:25PM Part of the reason these innovations aren't making their way back to the web is that this application has been developed by a third-party for eBay. eBay wanted to target a different part of their user base with this app to provide them with a lot of the slick things included.

TUAW Back-to-School Giveaway Day 13: an iPhone (TUAW.com)

Aug 29th 2007 8:52AM Although it's all random, I'd love to have an iPhone so I can test a new iPhone-ified version of www.globalgiving.com on it. Help a non-profit developer out!

Canadian Author Suing Judd Apatow for Ripping Off 'Knocked Up' (Cinematical)

Jun 5th 2007 1:53PM I read Eckler's book about two years ago before I had even heard about Aptow's movie. (BTW: I'd highly recommend the book.) Aside from the fact that the female character wasn't planning on getting pregnant (and perhaps the Jewish dad, although I don't think that's an important detail for either the book or movie), there's not much similar.

In the book, the main character is already engaged when she becomes pregnant, and the majority of the movie's plot centers around the fact that Ben and Alison (the main characters) don't get to know one another until after they hook up one night.

So while there are very few plot similarities, I do think she has a case. When I saw that there was a movie coming out called Knocked Up, I assumed it was based on the book. When I discovered it wasn't, I thought it was odd that they'd use the same title as book as it could create confusion for people. Although I'm not a lawyer, I think the confusion between the copyrighted works is the legal ground that Eckler has.
