It's alive! Nintendo DS lite in the flesh (Joystiq)

Feb 9th 2006 8:53PM @17 - I thought this was fully discussed. The distance between the screens cannot change because some games have (and will continue to) use this space as real space, space that actions can occur in (such as pinball games). If this were changed, there would be a crazy-feeling lag between when an object goes in one side and comes out the other.

I just wish it could have been widescreen. For non-formatted games, they could have used black bars on the sides. Ah, wishful thinking, I suppose.

ATI talks Nintendo, Hollywood GPU (Joystiq)

Jan 12th 2006 8:29PM @Navstar:
I believe this is the quote to which you are referring: "It is designed the same as the Flipper was -- from the ground up for a specific console".
But this doesn't mean that it's a "Flipper 2.0", but rather a completely new build - as Flipper was a brand-spankin' new build - and that's what it means by "the same". At least that's how I take it. The quote, however, is open to interpretation, as I am sure any more specific information would have been sure to break a number of NDEs. If anyone else thinks they know what this means, _specifically_, please help - but I think I have it right here (as it has been verified in this manner by other sources as well).

The media's crush on Nintendo (Joystiq)

Jan 12th 2006 7:58PM #16. "Why can't each product be judged based on its own merrits?"
-Blynkj

This is a question I would like to ask fans of all consoles. Everyone says "Nintendo is too kiddy", and "Sony/Microsoft is for growed-ups". Well, this is just fanboyism on the part of Sony and/or Microsoft. I admit that I enjoy Microsoft's few games greatly (especially the ones done by their own studios), but I will never say that Microsoft pwns. If every work were to be judged by their own merit and not by how they look ("too kiddie", ty SetupWeasle) or whatever external prejudices one holds whilst looking at them, one would see the actual good in the game, and not accept or deny it based on the system or the look or whatever. That is what people need to do,and that is what seperates regular (read: rational) people/gamers from radical (read: radical) fanboys.

There. I said it.
