Hackintosh-friendly Dell Mini 10v discontinued (TUAW.com)
Apr 15th 2010 10:59AM My story: I failed to pull the trigger on one of these back in January, changed my mind to buy one in March, but they had already been pulled from the Canadian site. I wound up buying one of the refurbed Nickelodeon models (figured the kids would like the "slimed" graphics) through dell.com. Had it shipped to my father-in-law in Florida, who then shipped it via UPS (ouch) to me in Canada.
Once I finally had it though, making it a 10.6.3 hackintosh was very easy. My thanks to all the developers who have put the time and effort into making the compatibilities possible.
Final tally: $320 (computer + FL tax) + $30 UPS shipping to Canada + $35 Ontario and Canada tax + $50(!) UPS "fee" + $30 Snow Leopard disc = $465 CDN.
Would I do it again? Probably not, given the hassle and expense of the purchase.

Mar 30th 2010 3:17PM I should point out to everyone reading this post that Dell no longer has the 10v for sale (Mar 30th). There's a few refurbs left in the outlet store, but you can't order a new one.
