Apple Store back up, white iPhone now available (TUAW.com)

Apr 28th 2011 7:01AM Yup, just got an e-mail in the inbox from Apple telling of its' availability.

Have a MacBook Pro with a faulty GPU and no AppleCare? You may still be covered (TUAW.com)

Mar 8th 2011 11:15PM Add me to the list. There's plenty of information on the internet to suggest that this is a pretty consistent failure. They all fail in nearly the same way with the line artifacts across windows. So while there's this great customer service program for those with NVidia there isn't one for us first Intel MBP's with ATI X1600's.
The repair costs for anything dealing with the logic board are fairly absurd - if the repair costs exceed a few hundred dollars on a late model Mac like this the money would probably be better spent on a new computer.
I understand the Apple perspective and that if they formally acknowledged this they'd be inundated with service requests on this old tech - mostly the time labor costs to deal with it.
What I'm getting at is that probably one of the best things they could do for customer service would be to provide a voucher of some kind good for a discount of some sort on the purchase of a new model.

RapidWeaver 5.0: TUAW exclusive first look and promo code giveaway (TUAW.com)

Dec 1st 2010 2:01PM I'd work on a few personal low traffic websites to get familiar with Rapidweaver first. Then I'd use the 'rapid' part of Rapidweaver to crank out some sites that have been sitting on the backburner for too long.

First Look: USB-powered Mimo 710-S display (which you could win) (TUAW.com)

Aug 26th 2009 11:48AM I'd use it to gain the advantages of a multi-monitor setup in a small space. I'd leave Adium on this monitor to have my built in screen all to non-chat windows.

Using LaTeXiT to display math formulas (TUAW.com)

Aug 18th 2009 9:29AM You may not realize it but OS X already has some degree of built in support for equation editing through the Grapher application residing within the Utilities folder.

Bring up the Equation Palate and start typing what you have to type. The arrow keys are good at navigation the equation to put what you want where you want. When you're all done, highlight the whole thing and copy/paste into Pages/Word. The program is smart enough to turn the equation into an image if the copy/paste isn't within the Grapher application. If it's something that can be graphed, great, you have a graph of it too.
