HP UMPC 2133 specs revealed, street date of April 7th? (Engadget)

Mar 26th 2008 9:47PM Damn, Missed the bet on this one.. I have a 32gb SSD 1.8" IDE drive In my tablet I was planning to transition to this.. but if they went 2.5" SATA then thats right out.. Guess I'll have to wait for the 9" EEE and stick it in there..... That is unless this thing will use a 2.5" IDE drive.. then theirs hope :-P.

Amazon Kindle first hands-on (Engadget)

Nov 19th 2007 11:04AM My real question is what services are ACTUALLY available via EV-DO.. I have hard email and web, but can't get confirmation on that.. If its just access to the kindle store content + wikipedia then its cool but not amazing..

Paying cash for that iPhone? Not any more. (Download Squad)

Oct 31st 2007 9:55AM Those numbers don't add up.. According to some estimates (recently released) apple gets upwards of $400/activated phone over the life of the 2 year contact. last time I checked 250,000 * $400 is $100,000,000.00 in lost revenue; Or atleast lost potenial over the next 2 years.

I would be intrested in seeing where 4.5m comes from.. Because they spend more than that on their superbowl add for the iphone. Are they downplaying the lose or are they amatorizing it over 2 years based on some average number of "unlocked" phones sold per day.. (time to whip out excel).

Looking for a few good geeks (Download Squad)

Oct 5th 2007 9:48AM Ryan,
Submit your work anyways.. even if you don't get a "job" but do get to have some work published its worth the experience.. Not to mention at 17, being published (at all) looks good to collage acceptance boards..

PS: I have no connection what so ever to download squad, its affiliates or its parent company. Just making a suggestion.

The strange case of 'Made for iPhone' websites (TUAW.com)

Jul 18th 2007 8:57AM As both an iPhone user and an iPhone developer have to make a quick comment here. I personally test my App in IE, Firefox, Safari and of course Mobile Safari (the iPhone). Now I have 1 goal, make an App that works on an iPhone. BUT (and I stress BUT) I do not make design decisions that break the app on other platforms. I think that you may find other developers that feel the same way (then again maybe not, I mean iUI is platform specific).

The reason iPhone webapps are so specific to the iphone is because its the Apps Target market. for example my app, https://PassVault,ktomics.net, could easily have all of its forms & screens reformatted for a standard window. But I have tested that experience on an iPhone. Its functional but not pleasant. So because my target market is an iPhone user, I format my site to function in that smaller form factor. does that make it an iPhone webpage? maybe so. Taking this discussion a step further it is not uncommon for a web platform to render different content based on the browser anyways. ASP.NET renders different JavaScript based on the browser, heck even your browser can choose a specific CSS link based on attributes in the tag. What I am getting at is Browser specific formatting is not unique to the iPhone.; and its a far cry better than having to write an entirely separate presentation layer like you do with WML and WAP (mobile) sites!
