Tennis' Generation Lost: Who Is Game's Next Star? (Fanhouse Tennis)

May 26th 2010 9:25PM I don't necessarily think you can just call it a young person malaise, at least in the men's tour. Two younger pros, Isner and Cilic seem to be in an upwards trajectory. They seem to know their skill, are are working diligently to improve themselves. Isner's already been a finalist in two tournaments this year; as for Cilic, he has been going deep into major tournaments since last year. For Cilic, his major defeats were against a streaky Haas in Wimby '09, a QF loss to Delpo in USO '09 (after beating Murray), and then losing to Federer in AO '10 (after beating Delpo and Roddick in five sets, I think). Basically in the past two majors he lost to the eventual champion. Give him time and he probably will get get into a major final sooner rather than later. As to winning one of these things, there's usually a Federer or Rafa to contend with. Ask Murray how that works out.

Without Nadal, a French Win Means Less For Federer's Legacy (Fanhouse Tennis)

Jun 5th 2009 9:46PM I am a huge Federer fan. I want him to win this French Open, get his career slam, and as far as I'm concerned, be assured as a GOAT.

That being said, I would like him to come back next year and beat Nadal in the final of Roland Garros because he won't just be known for his hopefully 14+ slams starting on sunday, but his defining rivalry with Rafa, which he lags 7-13.

Mr Couch, I think you are half right in that the ultimate test/final would be against Rafa (and Federer attested as much in the presser after playing Haas), but I think you are completely wrong assuming that this is not what he needs or what he wants. He is in the French Open final, he's been gunning for it for 4 years, and he'll take it however he gets it.

24 writers urged to be careful of portrayal of Muslims (AOL TV)

Jan 18th 2007 9:29PM I actually don't watch the show; I was only commenting on your complaint on our apparent lack of voice.

As for the whole CAIR thing,I sometimes find CAIR to be a bit over the top. Maybe this time they are right in their concerns, maybe its just paranoia.

24 writers urged to be careful of portrayal of Muslims (AOL TV)

Jan 18th 2007 8:31PM To george, and 'support America'
Have fun reading.

The media isn't a big fan of covering moderate Muslims. Muslims, like myself, do condemn the acts of terrorism done by extremists. It just happens that Muslims condemning terrorism aren't given any airtime in the news.

I guess it just isn't that newsworthy.

Battlestar Galactica: Hero (AOL TV)

Nov 18th 2006 5:17PM I think you write decent reviews. I would prefer a more in depth analysis, but your quick analysis works fine as a compromise given that you upload your review within a few hours. Besides, all the people in the comments cover most of the questions posed anyways...which works just fine too.

Smallville: Static (AOL TV)

Nov 17th 2006 12:46PM there is no precedence for Lana's evil spawn in the comics. Its a smallville thing; they are trying to run the show into the ground as quickly as possible.

As for the red-eye guy, i can image people who don't read the comics would be thrown off with introducing another random character to save clark's weak butt. However, for those of us who are familiar with the Martian manhunter, it was a really cool way to introduce him. They didn't dumb him down, make him look like a wuss; he just came, did his thing and FLEW away. And i loved the Oreo's thing, but ofcourse if you didn't know the comics, you'd be confused as hell.

overall, i think that cameo saved an otherwise very poorly made episode. (and what is up with that two second fight scene with the zoner?)

Heroes: Nothing to Hide (AOL TV)

Nov 7th 2006 8:45PM after the radioactive guy, i think one reason its may be why its 'save the cheerleader, save the world.' I think that if sylar( or whoever) slices her brain off she's done permanently. However if they save her, the radioactive guy can just radiate to her, and she can just heal. Like instead of one massive explosion, she can just siphon of his (apparently) growing powers and heal, as needed.

Battlestar Galactica: Torn (AOL TV)

Nov 6th 2006 1:53PM Rob: about the 'athena is one of us' thing: I think that she honestly isn't going to betray the fleet by her own will. However, I have an inkling that maybe she can still get controlled/ or lose control of herself and become a cyclon instrument that may cause damage.
Though i hope nothing like that happens. It took a long time for them to trust her.

Smallville: Wither (AOL TV)

Oct 13th 2006 7:44PM I do agree with Jonathan, that Michael's Review was more of a synopsis than a review. Sure you chime in about a couple of things, but its more of a retelling than anything else.

As for the show itslef, i was disappointed. As is the case with most of the recent smallville episodes, there are a bunch of loopholes and discontinuity issue that are never dealt with. (One example for this episode....Lex never asking anyone to move in with him...Helen Bryce? Victoria ? Desiree?)

The plot itself was really lame, and the final showdown between clark and the phantom zone escapee was really quick. They need to focus more on clark than the romantic couplings that they seem to be busy making.
