"Microsoft is Dead" (Download Squad)
Apr 7th 2007 8:51PM After the launch of Vista (aka. Windows ME part 2), Bill Gates stepping down in 08, and the sticker shock of Office 2007. One would think Microsoft is dead. Quite honestly Paul is right, but Microsoft isn't going away soon. Ray Ozzie (Head of the NEW Microsoft) sees the companies future in consumer products like the Zune (a train wreck of a DMP), and the Xbox 360 (not ver 1.0 or 1.2, but the elite v1.5) as it's future source of income.
I think the better question we as a user base should be asking is: What next? If windows is completely unreliable then to we migrate the non-tech users to Macs, is Linux the answer? The lack of a stable (non-updateable) build of Windows could cripple buisnesses, and home users. Plus all the stupid buisness owners wanting Windows-ready applications for their workflows. This would devistate them.
This is the better to be asking...
Do PSP games on PS3 cause a threat? (Joystiq Playstation)
Jan 14th 2007 10:54PM Sony at this point needs all the help they can get. Game developers I've talked too already are pissed off from Sony's actions on not moving dev kits for the PS3 out early enough (or at all). For PS3 owners (current or otherwise) this would be a bonus or an incentive to get a PSP or vice versa!
The PSP line up right now is not bad, but the DS has them beat on price point, that honestly Sony can't match given the PSP's hardware. Too many poor people just refuse to drop Metos for Lumines II. In regards to Microsoft their lack of a portable game console gives Sony a bit of an edge, but above all they need more games both on PS3 and PSP. That is all.
Wii pre-orders at Gamestop Friday? (Joystiq)
Oct 11th 2006 1:24PM I will be at Gamestop on Friday then, from the looks of the launch titles, (and the titles sometime after). Nintendo has sold me on my console of choice this winter.
This isn't an easy decision since in the past Sony has treated me well with demos and freebies from there Playstation GAP members club. The Playstation brand has withered since the launch of the Xbox and the crushing success of the Nintendo DS. From a truly gamer stand point the games for either of these consoles are as follows:
Nintendo Wii:
- Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess
- Red Steel
- Madden 07 (the one that EA had to be “creative” for a change)
- Excite Truck
- Call of Duty 3 ( I would rather try this on the Wii )
- Wii Play (with Duck Hunt!)
- Wii Sports (duh it comes with the $250 price tag)
- Virtual Console (20+ plus games at launch)
PLAYSTATION 3: (note the caps Sony)
- Sonic the Hedgehog… (wait it got pushed back)
- Ridge Racer 7
Xbox 360 (this fall for the heck of it):
- Guitar Hero II
- Dance Dance Revolution SuperNova
- Phantasy Star Universe
- Star Trek: Legacy
- Marvel: Ultimate Alliance (Also a Wii game but a traditional controller would be better!)
- Gears of War…. Maybe… (I don’t trust that CliffyB guy.)
Remember, the console is only as the games that are available for it…
