Blockbuster avoids bankruptcy for now, but not NYSE delisting (Engadget)

Jul 4th 2010 12:07PM @MrFluffyThing i think we all saw this one coming. Blockbuster is extremely overpriced, and most of the other options are just way more convenient and cheaper. I would say if they go under there will be no more pick up a movie at the last minute, but there is redbox and on demand like services.

HTC HD2 caught running Android 2.1 and Ubuntu with touchscreen enabled (video) (Engadget)

Jul 1st 2010 1:35AM if they sold phones running ubuntu i would totally rock that shit

Google: HTML5 is good, Flash is the 'best platform' for YouTube today, WebM is the future (Engadget)

Jul 1st 2010 1:04AM @corylulu yes it looks that way. at least for copyrighted materials and videos requiring ads. For applications for mobile devices, flash isn't needed. Eventually HTML 5 or maybe 6 will be refined to the point where it is no longer needed, but as for now........ But i don't believe WebM is the future. The video codec patent trolls will find a way. They just need to stop with being so damn greedy. Like they don't have enough money already. Just make H.246 open source already, it is already dominating as a codec.

Early Windows 8 features to include startup performance boost, visual login, and improved graphics (Update: Windows Store, no more 1394?) (Engadget)

Jun 28th 2010 4:16PM @mattcoz im sure they wont force you to use it. there will most likely be the option to use a password. I'm sure they will have the software tightened up so you can't just flash a picture in front of it and gain access, although I look extremely similar to a friend of mine.

Jun 28th 2010 4:11PM @EmGee i couldn't say for sure but i think replacing or ridding the registry would be impossible at this point. They could slowly phase it out but it would take years.

Valve says Apple, NVIDIA and ATI are working to improve Mac gaming performance (Engadget)

Jun 17th 2010 10:02PM @Templarian Everyone needs to relax for a minute. "Serious" gaming on the mac is pretty much a brand new thing. It is going to take a little while for Apple to and developers to perfect this kind of thing. I wouldn't necessarily say that most mac users have more disposable income. I don't make much money at all. Not enough to really be able to afford a mac, but I am more more productive and able to create a consistent work flow on my mac. That's just me tho.

Unibody Mac mini meets iFixit, gets a delicate teardown exposé (Engadget)

Jun 16th 2010 9:18PM @Tumbleweed blu-ray isn't offered because its still not very mainstream (at least in my opinion) i only know one person with a bluray player and i have no intention to purchase one. I think digital download will win out over physical copy. Physical media wont disappear for a long time if ever, but digital download is really picking up some speed.
