Zune firmware update 1.3 due for mid-March (Engadget)

Feb 28th 2007 11:03PM im still not sure why everyone hates the zune. it jsut launched 4 months ago, and everyone's expecting it to be as good as the iPod. apple's been making iPod's for how long? they've got experience. they're in their fifth generation ipod. AT LAUNCH, the zune was competition for the ipod. true, there are problems and such, but microsoft's only been making this thing for 4 months. i say time and user input will make the zune better and more reliable. it may not become as popular as the ipod, just cause apple has gotten a ginormous leap on microsoft, but it may nibble away at apple's dap market, just as macs are now nibbling away at the pc market.

Jan 30th 2007 11:33PM even if microsoft did require companies to pay to use HD Photo specifications, isnt that exactly what apple does? companies have to pay to get information about what's under the hood of macs. please let me know if this belief is outdated or never existed (and only someone who knows would be best, no guesses).

Zune price and date: $249, November 14th (Engadget)

Oct 3rd 2006 10:11PM personally, im interested in the zune. i would never get an ipod, simply because everyone has it. i rather be an individual, rather than keeping up with the latest trend.

the wifi idea will AT FIRST be used for transferring songs to other zune users. it is very possible for this capability to be expanded to buying songs wirelessly from the zune marketplace, IM, email, whatever. you people just focus on what its coming with on the release and nothing else. when the apple first started it wasnt much, now look where it is.

i am a little skeptical of the quality of the zune, but the ipod cant be any better. and id prefer something thicker than an ipod: i would probably lose the ipod or break it.

the limitation of the itunes store is frustrating and a turn off. so once u download a file from iTunes, it can only be played in iTunes or on your ipod. if you get wma, u can play it with wmp, winamp, other mp3 players, cell phones, etc. sounds like the Zune Marketplace will trump the iTunes store in every way.

the price? no question. more features for the money. the battery is the only forseeable problem at this point (pre-launch), but is the case with any device with any rechargeable battery (just hope the batteries aren't made by sony).

lets face it, apple hasnt made any changes to their ipod, just said its the sixth generation ipod with "general bug fixes". it's about time a big company come out with something competitive with the ipod. and the ability to have a wallpaper (desktop picture) is really appealing to me, rather than just a bland white background. customization is everything to me: im an individual, a leader, not a follower. always have the latest stuff.
