John August as director cares less (DV Guru)

Oct 23rd 2006 9:17AM I'm filming a movie with a 9-year-old and some other actors, and it is definitely hard to keep my patience with the little kid. She is the easiest person to become unfocused and wild, but it's good that when she's acting, she can focus really well. I do know how to relate to John August, though, in terms of child actors, and just trying to keep the energy level up at the end of the day. It's easy to get wiped doing a movie, especially with kid actors. But good point not to show utter disregard for the actors, you need to balance focus with public relations and constructive criticism to get things done well. It's hrad, but it's worth it.

The Onyx Project: A choose your own adventure DVD (DV Guru)

Oct 2nd 2006 1:57PM There's a smaller budget (I'm pretty sure) one of these at www.makemydaydvd.com. It's cool, they have some behind the scenes clips up too that are interesting.

Produce your own semi-professional videos - Part 2 (Download Squad)

Sep 27th 2006 7:21PM That's a good wrap-up for PC users. It's really simple, even I didn't realize WMM had that much capability. I also liked how you tied it all down at the end with the labels and the presentation of the project, and thanks for the AutoRun Pro tip, I'll be using that if I ever make CDs again! (I don't very often but if I do, I'll think of you).

As for Mac users, I personally don't like iMovie, but haven't really used the rest enough to know much about them, I do know that iDVD is very simple, iTunes is also very simple and, even though iMovie is as well, I'm used to Adobe Premiere and it just wasn't what I wanted to do, going from professional to consumer style product. I've also used Final Cut Pro a little bit, and that was pretty easy as well, but it's more of a professional-grade product. I would reccomend the Mac route, though, since it comes with much more variety and resources and allows the producer/director/filmmaker much more basic creative freedom.

For all PC users out ther, though, go ahead and try, that's what I learned on and that's what I'm using now, so shoot! (And edit and export and show ). :)
