Windows 8 Explorer to feature Ribbon UI, SkyDrive and Mesh integration? (Download Squad)
Apr 3rd 2011 12:04PM @Lee Mathews Opera being the first browser with tabbed browsing is an extremely hard to kill tech myth :)
about the ribbon explorer: i think the ribbon is great in applications where it makes sense. Explorer is not one of those applications though. Tabs in Explorer, now that would be a great addition!
Google demands veto on OEM Android changes, stretches definition of 'open source' (Download Squad)
Apr 3rd 2011 8:40AM @James seems to me comments sections are mostly littered by non-fandroids eager to tell the world how not open android is according to them.
I'm an Android user and if you ask me it's better for the platform to impose some restrictions. However I wish they would have done so from the start.
iPad's App Store gets search filters (TUAW.com)
Feb 6th 2011 6:47AM I'd rather have the appstore not kicking me back to the first page of the selection I was browsing whenever I download an app. Extremely frustrating and killing for app discovery. Or let me queue the downloads so I can continue browsing first.
New York Times Chrome Web app hands-on: jaw-droppingly awesome (Download Squad)
Dec 8th 2010 1:23PM I don't understand how anyone can feel this is better than the iPad app. if only just for the much smoother experience a true native app brings. It doesn't even load for me, so maybe it only works on 4.2.
The question is though, if the website and the app are both just websites, what's THE point of having two?
Video: a look at Google Chrome's upcoming in-tab options menu (Download Squad)
Aug 1st 2010 7:05AM I think this is a great thing. In fact I wish every application would handle their options/preferences in a similar matter.
No settings spread across different dialog windows (often modal, non-resizable and scrolling boxes) or dropdown menus. Just 1 button that opens a page within the application and offers a nice categorized listing.
