Virb - MySpace done right, and we have 100 invites to give away! (Download Squad)
Mar 19th 2007 7:52PM The events and invite system at myspace needs a lot of work!
After responding to an invite all references to the event disappear into the cyptic, silo-ed, poor excuse of a calendar. Myspace doesn't remind you that the event is coming up and it's not like its calendar syncs to any of calendaring services. At the very least I'd love a downloadable ics file much like the way that Open Table does with restaurant reservations. Don't even bother with making updates to event plans. Most people won't find out about it.
Also, pending invites are notoriously hard to get to. If you decide to respond to an invite later you lose the direct link to it and you have to jump through a series of unintuitive pages to find where they are stored.
My friends and I get into arguments about miscommunicated event plans all the time with myspace. GRRR! THE FRUSTRATION!!!!
Battle of the keynotes: Jobs vs. Gates (Download Squad)
Jan 11th 2007 7:52PM To respond to the comment about the Zune being marketed poorly compared to the iPod...
Recall the marketing campaign for the original Xbox. It was not anywhere as huge and splashy as the launch of the 360. It was never the intention of Microsoft to garner #1 in the first generation (of course if it happened, the better). The intent was to gain traction with the audience, create some key learnings, look to the next generation development of the platform to kill the competition.
A similar battle has happened between Palm vs. Pocket PC (now Windows Mobile) years ago. Now Palm, the hardware only company produces Windows Mobile devices.
Having said that, Apple is not a stupid company. I'm looking forward to them duking it out.
