In Firefox
1. New tab and navigate to about:config
2. Find "keyword.URL"
3. If not done already, change it's value to "http://www.google.com/search?q="
4. Close the tab
5. Open a new tab and type your search, instead of a URL
6. ????
7. Profit!

When you empty the recycle bin, the only thing that is deleted is the file's association with the operating system. That is why data recovery programs work. The file is still on the hard drive until the sector is written over.
