Dropbox under fire for security concerns (updated) (TUAW.com)
Apr 19th 2011 5:05PM RIM has been similarly douplespeaking for a while. First they say they can not under any circumstances see the contents of your emails but then they have reportedly placated Saudia Arabia, India et al. about those government's percieved need to be able to read all emails. I don't see how both of these assertions can be true.

iPad app store gains genius section (TUAW.com)
Aug 7th 2010 2:53PM How do I get to the App Store Genius section? I don't see anything like that.
RIM reported to have agreed to snooping deal with India, says 'no way!' (Engadget)
Aug 3rd 2010 2:53PM I'm confused.
RIM explicitly states that it is not possible for them or anyone else to read BlackBerry encrypted emails:
"• The BlackBerry security architecture for enterprise customers is purposefully designed to exclude the capability for RIM or any third party to read encrypted information under any circumstances. RIM would simply be unable to accommodate any request for a copy of a customer's encryption key since at no time does RIM, or any wireless network operator, ever possess a copy of the key." (see http://blogs.thenational.ae/beep_beep/2010/08/full-rim-customer-statement-on-blackberry-security-issues.html for full RIM statement on this). But India, UAE, et al. keep demanding this ability and the US claims to already have it.
How can the various governments continue to demand something which RIM says is not even theoretically possible?

The dying goodwill toward AT&T (TUAW.com)
Jun 9th 2009 11:02AM I was a very happy Verizon customer for well over a decade. Switched to ATT just for the iPhone (actually 2 iPhones). Call quality dropped - call reliability dropped - price skyrocketed. However, I would stay with them if they made even a small attempt to keep me. But $5-700 + a new 2 year contract just so I can upgrade my iPhones WITHOUT MMS and WITHOUT tethering is complete BS. What planet are they from where the b-schools teach that completely alienating your most profitable users is a good idea?

Apr 22nd 2009 12:15PM Sounds like it would be useful for capturing paper-only conference schedules, maps, etc.
And I strongly second the request for an iPhone version. Taking a photo, transferring to Mac, cleaning up and transferring back to iPhone is too many steps.
