Massively Speaking Episode 193: Happytime face smiles (Massively)

Mar 30th 2012 3:32PM Know what I want to know about EVE? Why the heck it is "EvE" sometimes, then "Eve" sometimes, then others it's "EVE". It's not a freakin acronym people.

I never really got the name anyway. I guess the "Eve" gate is what brought people to that galaxy as I recall. Still, as MMO names go, Eve is pretty sucky. Why would you name an MMO about blowin up spaceships after a chick?

I suspect the EVE thing is because people want the name to seem less feminine than it is.

Feb 2nd 2012 10:02AM I just can't get past the proportions on those 'humans'. Those people are either 8 feet tall or they have heads the size of a large grapefruit.

Feb 2nd 2012 10:00AM @Brockobama321 How bout we do it the old fashioned way and pay what we think things are worth? Knowing Bioware's reputation I'd say $60 for TOR is reasonable.

LEGO Universe shutting down January 2012 (Massively)

Nov 4th 2011 3:45PM I have an 8 yr old child. He played this game for about 4 hours over the course of a few days. That was it, after that he went back to Terraria (which I will actually play with him, I like it). If you make an MMO that is Lego themed and it can't hold an 8 yr old's attention you deserve what you get.

DCUO's latest update takes you to the Fortress of Solitude (Massively)

Oct 5th 2011 1:50PM Know what I just wondered? Why does Superman have muscles? Wouldn't he still be able to lift an aircraft carrier without muscles? Does he have to work out to keep them? I guess they're "super-muscles" but still...

New Dragon Nest videos show off Saint's Haven, new abilities (Massively)

Sep 27th 2011 10:20AM Hmm 500 quests, 10 dungeons, so that's 50 quests per dungeon. Yep, that's about right. Seems like you go through the same dungeon at least 10 times in the course of normal gameplay. It's frustratingly repetitive in that way.

Also it's really tough to find a PUG -- people create groups via the game's group system and then they idle in town for half an hour. Obnoxious.

MV Guide: September 26-October 2, 2011 (Massively)

Sep 26th 2011 2:59PM @(Unverified) Thats a Sorcerress from Dragon Nest. Note the dead eyes. The one thing I can't figure out about the game: why all the characters have the eyes of day old fish.

Funcom opens Secret World beta registration... really [Updated] (Massively)

Aug 29th 2011 7:52PM I go to the site, I click on "Register for Beta" and I get a blank-ish screen that has some shadows on it and a legal disclaimer at the bottom. Uhhhhhh is there supposed to be some sort of form there? Making me spend 5 minutes hunting down the Secret Link in your website is stupid. **I've got better things to do**. Same results in IE9 and Chrome 12. I'm gonna go do something fun. Even work is more fun than "guess the game we're going to make you play".

PAX 2011: WildStar panel discusses playing with paths the Bartle way (Massively)

Aug 29th 2011 3:39PM My kid wants to play this game. He's 8. The bunny girl with the hot body and epic cleavage is making me think twice though.

PAX 2011: On the (re)starting line with APB: Reloaded (Massively)

Aug 29th 2011 3:33PM @Macabre 13 And another thing: this game has already died once, it's not even officially relaunched and they're selling expensive weapons? Huge punishment for early adopters if the game crashes and burns. They should do what minecraft did: sell they stuff cheap while it's still in beta to pump up adoption and help the game take off. Then make the late-adopters pay full price.
