Mar 15th 2010 8:41PM I'm pretty sure that no one *has* to torrent video games. It's absurd to suggest that companies have made it hard to play video games when companies try to sell as many as possible. Granted, I understand the lost disc, the scratched disc, the crashed hard drive, the too-many-installs, the whatever, but really... I doubt that's even 5% of the traffic, and there's also the possibility of cloning the disc yourself for "backup purposes."

For emulation, I can see some validity, but when companies like Nintendo make an effort to bring those games back into the market, there's no excuse. Even then, there is still a USED video game market, heard of it? For those out-of-country ones, there's even an import market. Gaming is not a right that somehow justifies stealing them.

and honestly, if you want to record something in "real" life, you have to buy a camcorder--not steal one. Likewise, if you want to record something on your computer, you have to buy some software like FRAPS or make use of something freeware like WeGame. It's really not that hard.

Gaming isn't really something that can be used for educational purposes, either. Even if Sun's OpenOffice team wanted to analyze Microsoft Office and gain insight from it, i'm pretty sure they'd have to buy a copy or two.
