InfoWorld takes misguided jabs at Microsoft over MSE updates (Download Squad)
Jun 3rd 2010 10:00AM The only problem I have with the auto-update is that it always wants to do it when I'm already trying to do something, which makes my computer freak out, chew up internet bandwidth, and generally make me angry for 5 minutes while it decides to do what it needs to do.
Overall MSE is a great program, and auto-updates are fine for the majority, I just wish that it would ask me before doing anything.

Facebook "Like" boxes randomly sprouting baby Facebooks - they're not very cute (Download Squad)
May 14th 2010 5:16PM The Facebook "Like" button is poorly implemented at it's current stage. IFrames? Please. And if you dig into the code, you'll notice that it actually opens another IFrame inside the first IFrame. The "Like" buttons definitely do drag down page performance, and when there is more than one button per page, it can bring older computers to a crawl.
The only great thing about the current implementation is that it can be easily blocked with AdBlock. I wrote up a little how-to for those who would like to never see those buttons again.

Firebug web-developer debugging add-on version 1.5.2 now out (Download Squad)
Feb 26th 2010 11:58AM Yup, I've been using the arrow keys to cycle through values for quite some time now. It's nice when you need to adjust or align something that is positioned by pixels, because you can open Firebug, click the value you want to change, and arrow up and down until it's just right.
Pandora announces premium features and new desktop app (Download Squad)
May 21st 2009 10:28AM I use pandora almost all day, every day while at work, so I upgraded right away for the ad-free desktop app and higher audio quality. Only $36 a year seems like a steal to me for the amount of amazing music I listen to every day.

Nov 30th 2007 12:58PM an appendage is an external body part that projects from the body. So there it is, I wouldn't mind losing an ear in a gun fight.
