Good news and bad news for The Shield (AOL TV)
Oct 19th 2005 7:36PM As much as I love the Shield, I'm glad to see a TV show calling it quits this way. Given the storyline, there's only so many times that Mackay and the boys can slip out of trouble. I'd like to see more shows actually start with a three to five year plot already sketched out. They meake the show till it ends and then they stop. Sort of like... a novel... only for TV.
Night Stalker: Do I have to keep watching this show? (AOL TV)
Oct 14th 2005 8:26PM I am with you. Then again, I called it quits after the first episode, and then the second, and now again after this one. I think I've finally learned my lesson. Next time I feel like maybe I'm bored enough to watch this, I think I'll go find some wet paint. Bad acting, bad writing, bad idea. Easily the worst show this year, that I actually thought had a chance to be good.
Windows Alternative to Delicious Library (Download Squad)
Jul 19th 2005 12:50AM Also, MediaMan is free rather than $40 which is, you know, sorta nice. I can see paying $40 for DL if you're running a business or something, but just for home use thats exorbitant for what is really just a very pretty utility. Both programs are easy to use and pretty easy to transfer data between. I'm running MediaMan and playing with the DL demo and while I like both of them a lot I find I still can get information faster from an excel spreadsheet.

MediaPortal, a Tivo/MythTV/MCE clone for Windows (Download Squad)
Jul 2nd 2005 2:03PM While I haven't tried Media Portal since they went into commercial release, the early versions were unimpressive. Now I'm having pretty good luck with GB-PVR which is actually still freeware. It's not quite as polished looking, and it's not really easy to set up but it works better for me than either of the commercial packages Snapstream or Sage. I'm using it with a dual tuner hauppage card that allows me to watch one program and record another or record two at once.
Simple, tabbed text editor/notepad? (TUAW.com)
Feb 11th 2005 12:11PM I want the same thing. On windows I use Crimson Edit which is a free basic tabbed editor. I've played around with jedit, but it seemed a bit clunky, too much stuff. Smultron is the closest so far. I just want subethaedit with tabs!
