WWDC was created to be a software event. ANd then it was taken over by the iphone. Jobs doesn't like to be on anyone else's schedule and between that and the intent of WWDC, removing hardware from the event actually makes sense.

now it doesn't mean that an iphone announcement is definitely way off. it would be the end of the same week from the campus townhall. Or even the next day.

and in regards to the airports etc, they could be quietly added to the website when the BtS promotion is added.

May 31st 2011 12:17AM re: this replacement kit. This is from Apple???? If so that is a very new thing for them. In the past replacing your own case was a warranty void because you might hit something you shouldn't have.

As for all the 'i use it with my not iphone' stuff. Apple isn't likely to care. There are programs like DoubleTwist out there that work just as well and frankly it is really the responsibility of the hardware manufacturer to create this software not Apple.

May 31st 2011 12:12AM IF they were to make the service free or even drop the price a major amount and they didn't at least refund those that renewed/bought in the last 45 days (the refund period per the service terms), there would be so much negative PR it wouldn't be worth it. Same if it went free and they didn't prorate anyone that signed up earlier.

That said, there have been rumors about Mobile Me going free since the days of Mac.com and it ain't happened yet. Probably won't this time either. The whole music deal is almost certainly going to be part of Mobile Me as a way to get folks to sign up and pay. Cause syncing etc isn't enough for everyone to fork up the cash (which is why you all are going hit happy on any article that suggests that it is about to go free). Part of the rumored set up with the music is that users will be allowed to stream any song from their itunes library regardless of the source, not just stuff they bought from iTunes. But the labels want $$$$ for this. And that money is coming from the service charge. So free is out of the picture but knocking it down to the $69 that they discount it to with the purchase of pretty much anything is possible. Perhaps even a lower storage with music streaming $29-39 is possible.

Apple is filing a Trade Dress complaint. The core of that is the belief that Samsung has and continues to blatantly copy elements from their look and feel.

The 'continues' is why Apple's lawyers (not executives or engineers) are being allowed to look at upcoming devices.

Samsung is filing for patent violations claiming the unauthorized use of patented tech. They don't need to see the devices, just the software. So they should be asking for a copy of iOS5. Which is likely what Apple will argue and what the judge will agree to.

May 28th 2011 4:41PM It is not a 10% discount on hardware It is a dollar discount that is more like 5% and only on computers and iPods. Nothing on iPhones or iPads.

There is a 10% discount on select software but it is very limited. No family packs, no pro apps, no upgrades, no snow leopard

That said, they might start this the same week but the deal won't be connected to WWDC. People are just making bad assumptions
