Updating your iPod Touch to OS 3.1 - now 50% cheaper! (Download Squad)

Sep 11th 2009 11:47AM I'm not tempted. It frustrates me, because many applications end up taking advantage of the new features and it becomes more and more necessary to continue use of the app store to have the 3.x update.

If i have to pay the additional fee to update my device that is really built around using the apps (the iPod Touch really excels at mimicking the iPhone, not the original iPods) it's obnoxious to me that there is a continuing cost-of-admission for such an expensive device.

$5 isn't much, i know, but when i've had to pay $10 for the 2.0 update, and there is always the prospect of further updates costing more money, and i am unable to expand storage, or replace a battery on this device, i'm really not interested.

But there's clearly a market for it, so if it works for people, I can't blame Apple too much.

AMD's RS880 integrated graphics chip could make netbooks usable (Engadget)

Jul 2nd 2009 9:13AM But, my netbook is already usable. I have plenty of other options for more graphics intensive needs, and would really rather not bulk up any pricing on a netbook.

Does Wii boxart capture Nintendo's new vision for gaming? (Joystiq)

Sep 20th 2006 2:15PM It's fine, i don't think there's any really GOOD box-art design happening for anyone out there, it's just branding.

When you look at the contour of the Wii design though, it's like an inverted Wiimote contour, which is kind of cool.

But really, it's not worth reporting this.

Critiquing Nintendo's Wii launch details (Joystiq)

Sep 14th 2006 4:41PM The SG grips sheet pretty much has it all. Nintendo built up a lot of momentum for this system through E3, summer was long and sort of slow, and now this news kind of hushes the excitment for me.

It's $250 for me to play by myself, $310 to add a partner, and $360 to play a game that i choose with that person.

Virtual console is not very appealing, and perhaps i'm falling off the edge of the mass appeal Nintendo is aiming for, but weather? news? why on earth would i go to my Nintendo to get these items i can get from one of countless other sources that is built expressly for that content?

The pricing is my #1 issue. Affordable for multiple players is not so real any more. To get a set up for the amount of non-game-system-owning friends, i have to pony up a lot of cash, or convince them to invest quite a bit in a controller. It's much the same reason that paintballing is limited, because there's a considerable up-front investment for something you're not sure of, and may not know anyone who will want to go with you.

$50 Wiimote/Nunchuk bundle would be alright, $40 would be very nice, and a $200 console would nail my excitement.

Also, what happened to WiFi gaming? This was huge for me when i got my DS, and now it rarely if ever comes up when Nintendo speaks.

Joyswag: A Castle Crashers tee for your thoughts ... the revenge! [update 1] (Joystiq)

Sep 12th 2006 4:45PM Battletoads. Because it was an acceptable way to wail on my little brother. I don't think we ever got past level 2 due to toad-on-toad action.
