Nov 20th 2006 5:52AM I'm with gatekeeper on this one. The stated terms seem reasonable given that they essentially are giving away unrestricted commercial software. If it gets to the point where you need to install said software again, then the fair thing to do would be to break out your wallet.
I think this is a great idea, I will also be checking back regularly.

Yeah thats true man. You'd think they'd have to use a fairly high frequency band or it would interfere with the music itself. Doing so would make the signal pretty easy to isolate, and remove.
On the up side, think of the naming possibilities:
"Dogwhistle Rights Management" :P
An apology, and a note on hype (Joystiq)
Sep 8th 2006 9:11AM Hey Everyone,
I was one of the people that got excited by the offending post...but I guess it's not a big deal, everyone makes mistakes.
Let the readers remember that Joystiq brings us a lot of interesting news (expecially to those of us too lazy to check other sites).
Let Joystiq remember that without their readers trust, they would not have the opportunity to bring us said news.
Apology accepted, let the blogging continue.
XBLA Portable: Worst fake product mock-up ever? [update 1] (Joystiq)
Aug 9th 2006 10:31PM There is a promotion in Australia atm where you get a free mini xbox with purchase of a certain breakfast cereal (Nutri-Grain).
That pic is one of those mini xboxes. Obviously, the specs are a joke.

New Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle (TMNT) movie trailer (Joystiq)
Jul 22nd 2006 7:33AM Thought the trailer looked cool but...
How cool was the first TMNT movie? I still pick up my old (legit) VHS copy of it sometimes. For my money it is still the best "movie based on the cartoon based on the comic" of its era. The costumes were awesome, the turtles didnt look awkward in their fighting at all, and there was actually a decent story (although why krang wasn't in it, ill never know).
Looking forward to the new one, but let us not forget the old, "rubbery", trail blazers of yesteryear.
RSS Readers: SOUND OFF! (Download Squad)
Jul 22nd 2006 7:13AM I have a confession to make; I don't get RSS at all (I can feel the warmth of the flames already).
I consider myself tech savy. I have a degree in engineering and work in the industry as a software engineer. Probably spend 2-3 solid hours a day on the internet and have numerous blogs that I visit on a regular basis.
I have tried several RSS readers, set them up and tried (wanted!) to love them, but I can't. It seems so pointless to have yet another application to do something that a browser does perfectly well. What do people have against typing in a URL and viewing a website?
Fair enough, everything is in one place. Wicked, you know straight off when there are new posts, but so what? Unless someone wants to spell out one *significant* advantage of RSS I remain forever, a hater.
My Recommendation: Try using your browser, you'll feel much better.
P.S. yes...rss is great for bittorrent, and sitatuations where you need to search a whole lotta posts...but isn't that what blog searches are for?
Reminder: Photoshop SDK is free (The Unofficial Photoshop Weblog)
May 30th 2006 7:59AM I just went and tried to request the Photoshop SDK and I've gotta say, what are Adobe thinking?
Is there any particular reason that you have to promise them your first born son just to get access to the SDK? Their form even suggested I had given them a fake address as it "couldn't match the address with its verification list".
Nuts to you, Adobe. I'll go download it from a torrent. You can't have my details.

Google testing new search results page (Download Squad)
Apr 23rd 2006 12:51AM Hey,
these are real, i stumbled across them the other day doing a search for "search" (just to see what happened...i'm that boring). This just seems to bring up a regular page now though. They must be showing them randomly
Under those arrow twiddle thingys, you could actually reveal a search box for the particular search engines returned in the list.
Interestingly enough, the search term "search" returns (in this order) Lycos, Altavista, MSN Search, My Excite, and then Google. Weird.
