Aug 10th 2007 3:46PM Wow, though we "hate" to hear speak this way, how many people do you know, in your everyday life, that share this ignorant sentiment? We have a host of names for people of color, different nationalities, gender, sexual orientation - this woman just got caught. Sadly, she is not alone.

Some mentioned "rights". True, she is free to say whatever she desires (to a point - there have been adjustments made to the perception and understanding of those rights). Though I would be interested to see if your tune would be the same if someone were "speaking" about you, personally in a manner less than flattering. Perhaps some off-handed remark about your genitalia, or the workings of your brain. Again, free-speech comes with a price. Just that you weren't the object this time.

Jun 10th 2007 10:32AM Hey, let's keep it simple; kid answered as the question was asked. Our expectations for "social norms" do not always mean that this same expectation is correct. From my perspective, however important that may be, the announcer is far more irritating than the child. She asks, "what did your mother say after you won?". Since she was not by his side when he won, he would not have heard what she said and, unless she told him what she said at that moment, he's have no way of knowing. Another option for that question would have been, "what did your mother say to YOU about your win?"

Just my two-cents.

Do we REALLY need another tech-item crammed into another space our lives??? iPod, PDA, cell phone, Bic pens - what's next, remote controls for toilet flushing?!?!?

I appreciate the needs of the blind, but is it the merchants responsibility to provide technology or does this fall on the shoulders of the consumer to provide their own products to enter the mainstream? If you're blind, obese, or an agoraphobic - do what you can to get your needs met, yes?

Sep 9th 2006 2:19AM This is my first post here and I almost just let it slide. But....

Having been a windows man from '83 on and having purchased my first Mac (PowerBook G4) that's now a little over a year old, I'm reading this comparison and I'm thinking to myself that the comparison isn't really "fair". And for the record, I have no windows machines in my home, but sheesh, a year old model from Redmond versus the newest from Apple??? Nah, even for me, that's a wee bit of a stretch.

Just my 2-cents.
