iPhone: What is DFU mode, and what's the difference from recovery mode? (TUAW.com)

May 25th 2011 10:24PM I'd always entertained the notion that if your iOS device was stuck in DFU mode it meant you "Done F*cked Up". :) I guess I'll have to remember it actually stands for something official, too.

Playboy archives coming to iPad tomorrow (TUAW.com)

May 18th 2011 10:56PM Agreed. If you're looking for porn, there's a browser right there on the home screen, and it'll get you porn of (literally) anything and everything, almost all of it free.

TUAW's Daily Mac App: Shuttie (TUAW.com)

May 11th 2011 8:50PM I found a free Dashboard widget which does it, called, simply, Off. It was in Apple's widget directory.

Report: 68% of Mac users running Snow Leopard (TUAW.com)

May 3rd 2011 1:04PM I imagine many developers want to get a head-start on reworking their applications to work properly under Lion, especially with some of the planned user-facing features like full-screen mode and such. It's not purely a matter of being the first ones to see some cool new stuff.

Target Display Mode on new iMacs limited to Thunderbolt sources (updated) (TUAW.com)

May 3rd 2011 11:19AM From a MacRumors article just posted about the new iMacs:

"While we were unable to find explicit mention of support for Target Display Mode on the new iMac product pages, an Apple sales representative has confirmed to us that the new 27-inch models do continue to support the feature through the new Thunderbolt ports."

So it looks like only the 21¬Ĺ" models will be left out in the cold.

Report: 68% of Mac users running Snow Leopard (TUAW.com)

May 3rd 2011 2:00AM The only thing keeping me from moving from 10.5 up to 10.6 as my primary OS is that I need to buy a bigger hard drive, actually. Leopard lives on my primary, mostly full 250 GB drive, while SL lives on an older 80 GB drive I rescued from another machine (I keep most of my non-casual games, like Source Engine titles, on SL for better performance/compatibility). Being that it's a Hackintosh, I really can't get away with anything less than a clean install, which entails somewhat more than 80 GB of backup storage.

New downloads window coming to Safari in Lion (TUAW.com)

May 2nd 2011 7:19PM Looks a little rough around the edges in this beta (i.e. the "Canc" button), but I bet it'll be a pleasure to use.
