Mar 29th 2011 12:59PM Detroits population did drop, but the suburbs also grew larger. It's still the 11th largest metropolitan area in the U.S. and overall lost only 1.1% of its population in the last ten years. No bad if you consider what the whole auto industry went through. It certainly deserves to host the NAIAS.

Mar 29th 2011 12:46PM You obviously haven't been to any of the other large auto shows around the world. Take Geneva for example, you can walk from the airport right to Palexpo and a attached train station connects it with other European cities like Paris, Milano, Frankfurt etc. I think its great that Detroit is going to renovate Cobo, but what is also need is better connections to the world like a light rail system from the Airport to the City and more world class hotels.

Mar 20th 2011 9:14AM Domestic also import a good amount of parts from Japan. Especially car electronics will be in short supply. And as you know, if only 1 screw is missing the whole car can't be built. So look for the same problem to hit GM, Ford and Chrysler soon.

Feb 7th 2011 9:58AM Update: They brought in a specialist team of 7 doctors to work on his hand. The OP took 7 hours and it looks like the hand has been saved. The next few days will show if the blood circulation is good enough. They still have to do a second surgery to fix his elbow and shoulder.
