Google Bookmarks gets Delicious import, via staffer's undead script (Download Squad)
Feb 18th 2011 10:14AM I quit adding new bookmarks to Delicious and started using Google Bookmarks back in December. But I did not transfer my previous bookmarks. Now that Google is officially backing Parparita's service I have one less worry. In fact I started the transfer right now. Unfortunately I got a 500 server error, though I don't think my 5000+ bookmarks will make it choke. (I read somewhere that somebody with 10000+ was successful.)
I do like Google Bookmarks for my own usage, and with Sharaholic and bookmarklets it's really easy to add, but I agree that tighter Chrome integration will make me a full-time fan. In the mean time, there are some add-ons to bridge the gap.

Sep 10th 2010 11:47PM Thanks for linking. What a great game, although I could not achieve the greatness. 43rd did me in, but what a ride.
Gamers who want to check out the seminal game in the genre should look for "Umihara Kawase", a console game (best version is the Nintendo Dual Screen version). The physics model is astounding for a 90's game and puzzles are clever and confounding.

TreeStyle Tabs lets Firefox take advantage of your widescreen (Download Squad)
Oct 21st 2008 9:58AM Tell me when Opera has _TREE_ style tabs. I don't see a mention of _TREE_ style management in Opera.

One practical application is when opening multiple links like on Google search result page or auction search result page. Quickly open them using the middle mouse button, scan each one, then close the children tabs by selecting "Close Children".
Folder Guide Speeds Windows Directory Browsing (Download Squad)
Aug 29th 2008 10:22AM Wow this is truly excellent and useful. I used to define environment variables like %mypic%=C:\data\pic and type that into the address bar, but this FG with the context menu is a good reminder. Also it works with Japanese (and probably other language) filenames, with some terrible fonting but its perfectly editable through copy and paste. You can even export the settings to edit it and then re-import. Very thoughtful.
If I had to complain about something, it's that the main window feels hard to manipulate, eg. no drag-and-drop, no drag-resort, modal dialogs. But you rarely use the FG main window after you set up your shortcuts. Also it seems that you can't quit the functionality, nor can you "portable app" it.
Princess Maker 4: Implicitly erotic parenting sim coming to DS (Joystiq Nintendo)
Jul 5th 2008 10:29AM Agree with Neko and Kitkat. Princess Maker series is all about control, but not about eroge or hentai or incest. Yes it is CERO C (15 yro+). If you want erotic, go get Doki Doki Shinpan or other SNK games.
I am also fan of this illustrator Naoto Tenhiro. He is famous for Sister Princess (PS1, DC) and other bishojo games. It looks fresh in comparison to the original PM artist.
I got a different vibe playing the original PM4 on the PlayStation 2 back in 2005. Most of the events are from your daughter's perspective, so I assume that she is making some of the choices, not the father.
Also anime seiyuu goddess Nana Mizuki as the original daughter voice actress added even more voice recordings to this DS version for touch communication. "Please don't touch strange places", she says in the interview. LOL

Anime romance + J-pop = Memories Off opening (Joystiq Playstation)
May 30th 2008 8:20AM Memories Off for the PSP is a port of the 1999 PlayStation game. It includes voice work from anime seiyuu goddess Yukari Tamura.
@Warukyure:
According to the official page

Memories Off 2nd was also released the same day (2008-05-29). Two more games in the series will be released later.
Rubik's Cube coming to DS, screwdrivers no longer an option (Joystiq Nintendo)
May 1st 2008 7:39PM In the Japan region, there was a DS-based Rubik's Cube game with a long Japanese name that roughly translates to "Rubik's Cube and other famous puzzles". It was advertised as a "brain trainer". Here's a store link to it:
http://www.amazon.co.jp/dp/B000N8S27M
I have this game, but I derive little satisfaction from it because of the stylus input problems. e.g. you want to turn the right face but sometimes the up face is turned. I have much more fun playing the original (in fact I've been playing Rubik's Cube instead of DS/PSP/cell phone on my commute for the last year, tee hee) You can however, play 3x3, 4x4, 5x5, and even 6x6 on it, which is convenient until the batteries run out, ha.
The DS and Wii game announced in the post seems to be new. I found a picture from Gamasutra:
http://www.gamasutra.com/php-bin/news_index.php?story=18462
I would import it, but what I really want is a Rubik's timer and randomizer/recorder like JNetCube on my DS (sounds like a job for homebrew).
Should non-games receive non-coverage? (Joystiq Nintendo)
Apr 30th 2008 10:58PM Alex's blog Insomnia.ac reports and blogs on mainly "hardcore twitch" games. He does report on what he wants to see and that's a good contribution. His commentary is very aggressive however, because his name-calling opinions and vulgarity overshadow his argument-supporting facts.
When he says "Without an adequate definition we are therefore unable to separate games from non-games." I don't see his all-encompassing adequate definition that can bolster his argument. He is offering one definition by way of example, which is begging the question.
He's arguing is reporting in the game industry wastes too much space on "non-games" and they should concentrate on his definition of games. He cites Famitsu as a "hardcore" magazine and "Fathers and mothers, businessmen and professionals... wouldn't be caught dead buying a Famitsu". However, according to Wikipedia, Famitsu has a weekly circulation of 800,000 per week, which means all sorts of people buy it. It's popular because it greases the games industry of course, but it has a popular flavor and it is easy to approach. He wants this mainstream appeal and power to be co-opted to shine light on more game-y "games", because magazines are ultimately limited by their space. I suppose however, he is (aggressively!?) lamenting that traditional media is not joining up in his cause and propagating the network effects.
Luckily, gaming blogs like his have the ability to cater to this opinion, because they aren't hindered by bribes, (ad) space, popular interest (Monster Hunter *2nd G*, Grand Theft Auto *4*). Let the magazines continue to shine their limited scope. This is the Internet-era, where individuals like Alex, in the face of corporate blogs like DSFanboy (owned by AOL), can disseminate their opinion and garner cachet.

Apr 12th 2008 7:49AM It's funny. This utility was made _in_ AutoHotkey! In its older days it was called 320MPH and available as source from the AHK forums. So you have the footprint and speed of AHK.
