Mac OS X Lion features multi-user remoting, offers inexpensive Windows Server alternative (Download Squad)

Feb 27th 2011 7:25PM Please stop writing articles about things you don't know anything about. In the future before you make disparaging allegations about the lack of features in a server OS you ought to speak to a qualified expert who uses OSX Server and Windows Server. When you don't, those of us who do won't be immediately dismissive of your posts as woefully lacking any real research or accurate information. If you want to be considered a journalist and not just a blogger adhering to the standards of researching your stories isn't optional.

G4 makes staff and schedule cuts to X-Play, Attack of the Show (Joystiq)

Feb 17th 2009 8:27PM Why not rebrand the network as "Spike jr" since with less X-play & AoTS that's really all the network is.

Mygazines online magazine pirating site closes (Download Squad)

Oct 20th 2008 3:54PM So with full scans of the magazines that means users of the site also viewed the ads every magazine is full of as well? I can't see why that's a problem.
If the publishers would hurry up and realize that giving me the ability to view the same articles online as though I'd bought the issue they'd be better off. Less money in printing costs is the way to win.

Oh. Damn.

Is it just me or is this very similar to what the monks of history use to balance time in terry pratchett's discworld book 'thief of time'?

Regardless very cool that we're finally trying to minimize waste in energy production.

8 steps to a more professional Blogspot blog (Download Squad)

Mar 25th 2008 12:39PM I'm surprised you'd pick blogspot over Wordpress.com, between higher numbers of plugins, widgets & themes you also have Gravatar & OpenID support. Blogspot is cool but Wordpress is amazing.

But, there is one less thing... dealing with Front Row without a remote (TUAW.com)

Feb 26th 2008 7:58PM I love my remote, I use it all the time for everything from turning on/off iAlertU when I'm at the local coffee shop (I don't get out of sight of it ever just enjoy that extra bit of warning if someone tries to steal it) or when I'm on a business/road trip it's nice to use with hotel televisions or to just play music while I'm relaxing/getting over jetlag.
I totally agree that Apple's marketing departments seem to have forgotten why we all choose Apple: They take care of the user and don't resort to nickle and diming us all like Microsoft does.

So in 20 years is Microsoft going to be the little guy and Apple the giant corporate monstrosity? It's starting to seem like it.

Feb 20th 2008 10:43PM Wow it's a giant Marvin the Robot head!

If they've got a curved lcd under that hood I'll take one. Now that a few companies are doing the cubicleless thing maybe this would be a better replacement (as long as it has a curved lcd. Keep it open for diaglogs with coworkers, close it for quiet private conference calls (hell you could even add a webcam to it for virtual conferencing).

ZSF for Mac OS X (Download Squad)

Jan 14th 2008 6:48PM "...However, the interesting thing about geeks is that if a company won't do something for them, they'll just figure it out themselves...".

If by that you mean an Apple developer on the Apple ZFS team released it (much like most of the OSX OS software) as open source so others could benefit from Apple's hard work then yes, they do figure it out themselves. Macosforge.com is an Apple registered/run website offering lots of FOSS goodies for anyone who is interested.
