Let's go for a ride, change the channel quick (AdJab)

Jun 27th 2006 5:54PM I am pretty sure that DD ad was written by They Might Be Giants. I can't hate the ad for that reason. Sorry.

Saturday Night Live: Best of TV Funhouse (AOL TV)

Apr 30th 2006 8:26PM Truly it was worth the time to watch.

The Osama and Saddam short was amazing! Yes, the rocks were funny, as was the Batman versus the Jew, and the OTHER JEW, and THE OTHER JEW! (I've read the theory that many "bad guys" in comics have Jewish facial features, like crooked noses, so this ad was funny for a few reasons.)

I was surprised they didn't show the X-Presidents short that guest starred AG Duo. I remember it (not so fondly) since the AG Duo tried to put their vehicle into a cave and, failing initially, lubricated the vehicle. Everyone stopped and stared.

The Five: Shows that I don't see in reruns anymore (AOL TV)

Mar 8th 2006 9:41PM I imagine there are a lot of shows that have disappeared over the years for one reason or another. Times change. Interests change. People who would be home to watch syndicated television maybe aren't the right demographic for F-Troop and its ilk.

When I was a kid in 1971-2, F-Troop came on, as did Petticoat Junction and Rin-Tin-Tin. But you have to remember that those shows weren't even five years old at the time. F-Troop is now almost 40 YEARS OLD. How many people are going to be willing to give it a go? It's humor, while funny, is definitely for a different time.

Some shows are classics like Leave It To Beaver and you'll see them last through the generations, but I think even they'll disappear at some point.

What's more, I think syndication and the UHF phenom are definitely on the wane. The number of outlets for syndicated reruns seem to be disappearing.

SBXL: Toyota - "Bilingual" (AdJab)

Feb 5th 2006 8:22PM I'm confused by your comment. Perhaps it's me. I could swear the kid is not asking why a Hybrid, but rather inquires as to why the father learned English. The Dad answers, "for your future."

_THAT_ seems a very biazarre statement indeed.

Diamond site asks what you'd do for love (AdJab)

Dec 7th 2005 11:28PM I found it to be so tacky and maudlin that it actually caused me to vomit for twelve straight hours -- Holy Shit! Are you okay?

Adobe-Macromedia deal inches to a close (TUAW.com)

Dec 2nd 2005 9:58PM One nice litte trivia about this merger, if it happens, is that Adobe will have finally won the battle with Aldus. Back in the very-early 90s, two giants in the graphic arts world were Aldus Pagemaker and Aldus Freehand. Adobe had Photoshop and kept trying to make in-roads to page design and with vector design, but with out much success. The rest is history. Illustrator became the de-facto standard in vector graphics creation. Aldus sold off Pagemaker and Freehand. I don't remember if PageMaker went to Macromedia, but it wound up at Adobe where it was put out for quite awhile. Macromedia picked up Freehand where it languished badly. Streamline went away, too, as I recall.

How to make a poor man's alarm clock with iTunes on Windows (Download Squad)

Oct 11th 2005 1:02PM "Poor Man's Alarm Clock?!" On a MACINTOSH?! WTF?! I kid. I kid.

Outlook Express renamed as Windows Mail (Download Squad)

Oct 9th 2005 5:29PM Ummm... What's with the "Checkin Mail?" Is that the name of a folder? Is MS trying to get hip? "Yo, bitch, we be checkin' de mail up in dis hizzouse!"

Ars Technica on the Best Mac RSS Readers (TUAW.com)

Sep 24th 2005 9:26PM The only thing I don't like about sites like Bloglines is that adding feeds is a manual process. I like the fact that when I click on the RSS button in Safari that NetNewsReader subscribes me to that feed without having to do anything else.

See, smelling does bring in the ladies (AdJab)

Jul 4th 2005 9:34AM I'm such a damn prude. I find this and the Axe ad to be so demeaning to women. All they need is the right odor and they can be controlled? Is that the point? Has there been a rash of men trying Axe in the grocery store only to be mauled by out-of-control women? Bah.
