Kinect Star Wars review: Needs Force feedback (Joystiq)

Well what did the 5 year old think of it? You mentioned that then went off in another direction.

Kinect Star Wars review: Needs Force feedback (Joystiq)

In order:
*I never gave a damn about Greedo shooting first because even when Han shot first, he was killing a guy who was holding a gun to him. Killing in self-defense is legal and didn't make Han any more badass either way(especially after the hundreds of stormtroopers he kills after).
*The prequels are okay. RotS is the best, TPM is fine, AotC is crap, but RotS (almost) makes up for it.
*TFU was good. The sequel was rushed. The reviews for TFU were never mediocre like you imply. At worst it seemed to get an "it's okay" 70-type score.
*Jar Jar Binks wasn't that bad. It's been 13 years, and his role was diminished in the sequels. Plus if you see through the accent, he was just a regular guy caught in some crazy crap. "Oh maxibig da Force, well that smells stinkiwhiff"(he's saying the Force is a load of crap) "Monsters out there, leakin in here, all sinkin and no power, when yousa thinking wesa in trouble?!"(he's calling the Jedi on their bs calmness).
*Licensed stuff is bad? People buy it, and it made GL a billionaire and made major studios realize the profit in having merchandise rights(that they foolishly gave to GL because they didn't think merc was worth anything).

I got carried away there. Point was, these are the comments for a specific game that got bad reviews, so my reply(and your original post) should be pertaining to the game itself. And in that case, I think the problem is more the overreliance on gimmicky motion controls than the SW license itself. Replace it with Lord of the Rings with "Aerial Eagle Fighting" mode and "Cave Troll Rampage" mode and the game would be just as bad.

A nail in the Star Wars franchise's coffin? Nah. A nail in "gimmicky motion control game" franchise? Probably.

I just see these games that require use of motion controls and show off ONLY that aspect at conventions, and see that they're not really games, and more tech demos. So I'm blame the Kinect part of "Kinect Star Wars", not the Star Wars part of it. :)

Hyperspace Beacon: Breaking the bank (Massively)

Apr 4th 2012 2:26PM @Greyhame

How about you do it in a way that means every jerkoff can't make a guildbank for a single account? I imagine they want gbanks to be something slightly special that every random guild can't get, thus the credit cost. Why does high level pvp gear require a valor rank AND the various types of comms? Do they not like small scale pvpers to have them? Possibly a good analogy. It's just for bigger guilds that need the space.

For a guild of 3 or 4 people, their own personal banks are probably good enough. The amount of detail on daily/weekly withdrawal limits and stuff are things small guilds would never use.

BioWare shows off SWTOR's customizable UI in new video (Massively)

Apr 4th 2012 2:21PM @Ref Minor

Assuming you're being sarcastic, I'll say WoW still doesn't have it built into the game. You can customize your UI, but it requires third party addons. Even the big man on top of the mountain doesn't have UI Customization out of the box without the use of third party mods. So TOR's UI Customization still isn't bad.

And your sarcastic insult over them adding a new feature that other games have isn't constructive at all.

At least they helpfully label it "Fullscreen" rather than a random icon like various media players do. It may not be in the exact spot everyone else does, but it is clearly labeled when you look for it. :)

It's taking so long because they're thoroughly testing it on PTS. If they rushed it out tomorrow with various bugs and wonks still in it, it'd be buggy on live and people would tear the game a(nother) new one. Give it time. Better to be out later with no bugs than tomorrow with a million bugs.

They could use the youtube links like DarthHater does. Youtube doesn't do auto-play on embeds.

"that really shouls have been in from the start"

Again with this line. I hate that line. It accomplishes nothing. It's not constructive at all. It's basically discrediting a game for adding a feature players wanted, so the game can't win whether they add the feature or not. TOR won't have a time machine in 1.2 so they can retroactively put it in before launch.

Imagine applying that line to all other games. GW2 has some awesome features? Yeah it should've been in GW1. Halo 2 had dual-wielding? Yeah it should've been in Halo 1. WoW added guildbanks about 3 years ago? Yeah it should've been in at launch. I can keep going forever with this. You see what I mean? Your statement basically attacks the game for adding features with a remark that isn't constructive at all.

Also, you should've posted your comment months ago. Now I'm doing it to your posting habits too!
