Apr 5th 2012 2:41PM Well isn't this ironic as hell. New commenting system that is the exact example of what this Daily Grind system is all about, with annoying social media tie-ins. At least the older articles still have the old account system(with no working replies, how/why did that part break?).I don't have a Facebook or Twitter. I never got a MySpace when everyone said it was essential, and I didn't need one after everyone moved from MySpace to the next fad. That's why I refuse to get a Facebook or Twitter. But please, force me to get one. Half the comments in the new system say "just get a dummy Twitter account, it's easy!". But why should I have to make a new account to post on a site network where I already had an account? That's just intentionally trying to annoy people, shutting down your existing accounts and forcing people to get accounts with other sites to post on your site.Imagine if your bank shut down its account system and forced you to get Facebook to use your bank. See what I mean? What will you do in 3 or 4 years when Facebook and Twitter die and the next social networking fad comes in? Revamp your comment system again to use the Next Big Fad, or bring back your old account system as a "BRAND NEW THING"?tl;dr=I don't care for the new system, and it's part of the exact problem this Daily Grind column brings up.
Apr 5th 2012 12:31AM @Vegeta has a ps3AHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAH!You didn't think they'd cut the old comment system, officially declaring that the Joystiq comment system is dead for good, requiring you have a social media account to post on a site network that already had an account system in place, and then actually add the one feature everyone wanted in the old system? Right?
Apr 4th 2012 9:54PM Thanks for assuming everyone has a Facebook and/or Twitter, Joystiq. I'm commenting here because I refuse to use that mess of a system. I don't have a Facebook. I don't have a Twitter. I never got a MySpace when everyone said I HAD to get it because EVERYONE was using it, and I'll kindly do the same with Facebook/Twitter. Much like how MySpace was the center of the universe before it faded away, soon Facebook will too. I only have a Google Plus account because I already had a GMail account that synced effortlessly with it. But with your new commenting system, I can't login! You've apparently removed your old profile system, or at least made sure it doesn't work with the new system. And you pushed it out before making sure it worked. I notice any and all articles under the new comment system show ZERO comments at the top right bubble icon on the articles, as well as just above the comments. So an article with 0 comments actually has 500 comments? And having a Like button without a Dislike? A big reason I loved your old system was for the ability to Upvote/Downvote stuff. Now I can only Upvote/Like? Again, I don't have a Facebook account, so I don't care for the Like fad.All we wanted in a new comment system was the ability to edit posts. Instead you revamped the whole damn thing and STILL didn't put in an Edit Post feature, which was the entire reason we wanted you to do a new comment system. And on top of that, you broke the old comment system in the process, where we can't even reply to other posts. Thanks for putting that "Star Wars Battlefront 3" article up about 5 seconds before you put in the new comment system. Now I can't reply to a single person in that article's comments. Thanks for that!
Apr 4th 2012 8:00PM And Space Cobra, the top of each article says 0 comments. I imagine that is related.
Apr 4th 2012 7:16PM There are people who don't say "shu" as "shoo"? Maybe I watched too much Avatar: The Last Airbender, with its city named Omashu(after the lovers Oma and Shu), but Shu as shoo just seemed natural.
Apr 4th 2012 7:01PM @Traptz Because clearly the people who make the UI are the same people who work on the game engine, right? Right? Right?Like complaining that the guy who makes seat covers for your car can't replace your engine.
Apr 4th 2012 5:58PM @BlueRajasmyk Aren't you confusing EA with Activision, as headed by Bobby "We only make games that can make us cashcow sequels regardless of quality" Kotick?
Apr 4th 2012 4:09PM @Tizmah You had to make a comment about this?
Apr 4th 2012 3:26PM @Greymantle As I've said many times, what does "it should've been in at launch" even mean? It's like you're pissing on a game for adding things people want, so the game can't win. The game doesn't have a time machine. It can't retroactively add things in at launch. These things should've been in at launch? That's why they're adding them now. Part of the miracle of MMOs is that they can add things post-release.Try applying this logic to other games. You think GW2 is hot stuff? Well I say all of GW2's awesome features should've been in GW1 to begin with. See how unfair that reasoning is?
Apr 4th 2012 3:22PM @Critical Mass That's why you download it and watch it, if seeing it in high quality matters that much. I always download them so I don't have to deal with buffering or anything. High quality there. Also, the youtube mirrors that go online right after the official site videos. Try them.
