Free boobs: It's too good to be true (Download Squad)

Nov 11th 2009 5:51PM Sebastian: I'd like to thank you for blogging on Download Squad. You are easily the best writer here - you report on things the other writers wouldn't dare, you insert geek jokes in every post, and best of all, the not-so-discreet references to furries every few posts :p (We all know you're a closet furry...we'll be quiet, we promise! hehe, jk) So, keep up the good work!

World of Warcraft in China to go offline for weeks in operator handover (Massively)

Jun 2nd 2009 5:04AM NetEase will ruin the game for the current players. That's a fact. It is impossible to change a game's publisher, even after 1 year, without a huge amount of players leaving because of the attitude of the new Administration.

It's happened time and time again - the Matrix Online (seriously, how could Sony botch that up), small BBG Legend: Legacy of the Dragons (new Admin are complete idiots, and don't care about the community as long as they're making money - they've also committed illegal fraud against the whole playerbase), and no doubt a few others.

NVIDIA GPU resurrected after 10 minutes at 425°F (Engadget)

Jun 1st 2009 10:19AM Umm...nVidia doesn't make cards, AFAIK, they only design them and sell the designs to other companies that make them.

A look at iPhone Apps making use of LotRO's XML data (Massively)

May 16th 2009 8:10AM Umm...you obviously miss the point of the iPhone. The iPhone is a phone on which you can install thousands of third-party apps, some of which are quite neat. Most of these did not take several months and a few thousand quid creating.

On the other hand a Nintendo DSi is a portable games console - i.e. a miniature version of a Wii/PS3/Xbox. Nintendo DSi games generally do not help you find a taxi, allow you to use Facebook on-the-go, etc. What's more, the developers of these games take several months, and cost a few thousand quid to create.

DSi != iPhone. Some people own both, and use whatever they feel is best for the task at hand.

GM item scandal rocks WoW (Massively)

May 4th 2009 4:46PM Lol, this is very funny. What's more, it's similar to something that happened a few months back in a game I used to play - Legend: Legacy of the Dragons. My mum, named Arjuna, was a Guard - essentially, a player who is paid to make sure other players keep to the game rules.

Anyway, she got some uber-powers, so she could confiscate items from other players. Now, the translators of the game have characters in-game. They hold a special Admin item, called a Dragon Sword - which can kill nearly anyone in 1 hit. So, she stole a pair of these swords for her and her friend...and they both killed everyone they disliked for an hour before they got caught and perma-banned ))
