Oct 27th 2009 1:55PM Because the virus was designed to infect the windows platform only his/your wine directory would be effected and to fix the problem you would simply uninstall wine and or remove your .wine directory. Removing wine is not the only solution - you could also try removing the virus as you would in windows. For safer use, dont associate wine with executables ( .exe's)....dont associate it with anything for that matter. Even without the associations you can still run your apps manually and use shortcut / launchers.
Oct 25th 2009 11:49AM KevinNothing is 100% cakewalk for anybody...and yes, I have dealt with the older crowd and did not find it as difficult as you may have.We could go on and on but the point is and has been - anybody reading this article or these comments....go with Avast! Use it, Recommend it, and enjoy this GREAT and FREE virus-protection.
Oct 25th 2009 3:06AM Same here MarkyI dont know why AVG seems so much more popular than Avast!, the couple times I tested it myself (granted it was a long time ago) it, like otheres, effected system performance whereas with Avast! I have never had any issues. Also - I have not tested Microsofts Security Essentials but recommended it to a friend who in which loves it.
Oct 25th 2009 12:49AM Also...theres a video tutorial on their site on how to do what I posted : http://www.avast.com/files/tutorials/insert_key.htm
Oct 25th 2009 12:42AM You register once, from then on the serial is emailed to you and all you have to do is:- Copy it from email- Right-click the avast! icon in system tray, choose about- Then click the license button at bottom- Paste and viola ! ....wow thats so hard to do once a year for absolutely GREAT protection.
