Switching to Mac: Download Squad Switcher Podcast #2 (Download Squad)
Jun 16th 2007 9:52PM I had been a Windows user since I left DOS kicking and screaming many years ago. Last year when I got into some heavy video editing, every day was a struggle just to not experience a crash. I decided to try Vista and all I was able to mumble during that little adventure was "Five years and this is what they came up with?" I had the same experience as Lisa with the user access control. That's what sent me over the edge.
I snapped and ordered a Mac Pro. I had NEVER used a Mac before and if it didn't live up to all the hype my Mac friends were feeding me somebody was going to get hurt. A year later and now I also own a MacBook Pro. My little world of video editing is very calm and so am I.
Great podcast guys, I could soooo relate!

Jun 16th 2007 9:28PM I agree with your comments. It's a great way to bring exposure to your product. If a user likes it and uses it regularly, chances are that user will purchase the upgrade to get the latest enhancements and support the developer.
I also think the "free download" label generates more interest/downloads than the "trial version" label.

Nov 24th 2006 4:05PM Mike is right on with his post. There is something about immersing yourself for hours on end that enhances the learning process. When I starting using Premiere Pro, I just jumped in and started editing. I got things done, but I knew I was just hacking at the software. So I purchased the Total Training DVDs and set aside a weekend where I did nothing but go through the training start to finish. I came out of that feeling so much better about my editing and my confidence got a big boost too.
I just moved to the Mac platform and I'm back in the same boat with FCP. I plan to do the same thing, take at least 2 days and totally immerse myself in FCP.

Nov 20th 2006 11:38PM I used the Manfrotto 3299 RC2 adapter with 3157N plate: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/bnh/controller/home?O=Search&A=details&Q=&sku=149686&is=REG&addedTroughType=search
It's small, plus I already use this adapter on a monopod and shoulder mount, so I wanted to stay consistent with the plates.
Lycos Cinema: Movies plus chat (DV Guru)
Nov 13th 2006 2:03PM I agree Jon. One place I see this working great is if someone like Walter Murch did a screening of one the flicks he edited, and chatted with viewers about the way he put the movie together while it was playing. That would be awesome!
But for just relaxing and enjoying a movie, I'm with you. Hundred's of LOL's during the movie would annoy the heck out of me.
