You probably only remember the car ads that appeal to men, which usually features, um, lots of driving.Lots of car commercials have kids in there. Look at the recent Chevy ads - just two kids blowing bubble gum in backseat. Why? They want families to buy cars. Not single lonely men who tries to get girls.

Mar 20th 2010 1:47AM HTC should stop fragmenting Windows Mobile and Android platforms. I prefer vanilla experience of WM and Android for 2 reasons:1. HTC will never provide upgrade of Sense UI after I bought the phone, leaving my phone dated. And I will end up buying other widgets anyway.2. Sense UI is never deep enough. Therefore, once the sugar coating fades off, all that was left is the fact the inner OS does not look as good. I'd rather be coherent that everything doesn't look good, than having a skinned home screen.

That is, not just putting an box in your HTML, nor just dragging a textbox control over from the Visual Studio toolbar to the XAML. And if you can still follow me, what I meant is, to code a textbox from ground up including but not limited to:- locating user's finger position- decide the area and sensitivity of the rectangle for which text will be input- trigger keyboard (animation, resize window correctly, system hooks, etc)- lay out keyboard in a sensible manner- finetune keyboard sensitivity- intelligently detect user's words according to dictionary- display text that is detected from the keyboard control- display cursor in the correct position- remember cursor position and insert text into the string where the cursor is- remember the string that is input and send to other controls accordinglyBefore you can code this whole thing in assembly in DOS, you don't really have the right to say it's "easy".

Yes, you can download extra things to theme the OS - but that's out of the point.Like iPhone, you probably just need to jailbreak it. Like Android, you probably just need to root it. Like WebOS, you probably just need to jailbreak it. Like Windows, you probably just need WindowBlinds to overwrite some system DLLs. Like Mac OS, you probably just need to hack it.No systems mentioned above comes with theming that is more than switching wallpapers and colors. Only Android lets you switch the home screen.

But no, you cannot do cut and paste in the Fandango APP.@Wolfticket That's the problem of order. If you want to only forward a part of an SMS, you might as well forward first then erase the parts you don't want to send.@pp Yes, notetaking *is* an important reason why C&P needs to exist. Like I said, WP7S doesn't really need C&P "Except Microsoft Office." In this case, OneNote.@Cy Starkman If there were C&P on mobile devices, I wish there is universal C&P for every text - so that we can, like you said, copy links from the app store, for example. So far no platforms had achieved that yet.With that said though, the 3 usage cases at the top is a parady. Android can C&P, but it does it very, very clumsily - and can definitely have some streamlining like WP7S.

Large Photos:There is no way (or would be a waste of CPU) to tell where the face is in a photograph. Even with automatic face detection, there will be chances that a photo has a lot of faces in it. Also, unless the contact uses Facebook, Outlook photos won’t stretch that large.2. Different Font Weight for First and Last Name:There is no way to tell if there's first and last name unless Outlook can tell if it's a person. And there's no way it can tell if it's a person. Would it "FACEbook", "BANKofamerica" or "TIMEOUTnewyork"? There's just no way to tell. Cut.Take all of that out, what you get is the final design.If Engadget love themes so much, let's see how many of the editors actually skin their Mac OS or Windows first. I doubt anyone moves beyond wallpaper, and perhaps the color of the windows, at most.

Click the number and show list of options related to phone numbers, like "Send SMS".Use Case 2: Share phone number of a person to another person via SMS.- Have intelligent recognition of phone numbers in text. Click the number and show list of options related to phone numbers, like "Send SMS".Use Case 3: Send Maps search result to SMS.- Add "Share" button in the Search Result's pageYour Use Case:- Add "Share" button in Browser.- Google Android's Browser has "Share Page" in its menu, apparently. No need to C&P.Now here's a challenge:All of you give me a scenario that you think it needs C&P, and I will bounce all of you back with a way that don't need C&P. Then we can sort this out by ourselves.

Want to copy and paste part of a Gmail in Android? Or copy showtimes on Fandango to an SMS on the iPhone? You wish you can!Ideally, I would want every single piece of text can be copied and pasted, i.e. not just text in a textbox, but also text that is supposedly static, like every app in a web browser. Otherwise, there is no way to copy and paste text from, say, the Google Maps search results or Fandango showtimes I mentioned abpve.By the way, it's an ironic contrast where "Copy and Paste" is the most essential feature in Courier. Everything is drag and drop (which is a kind of copy and paste) from one notebook to another, the web browser to the notebook, etc.
