Dec 9th 2009 4:23PM @Machinedog This app broadcasts over 3G as well.
SSD-maker responds to nasty report, says it'll do better next time (Engadget)
Jul 3rd 2008 1:38PM I agree - totally a useless criteria for consumers. This crazy SSD manufacturer suggesting notebook manufacturers would choose new more power-efficient drives is totally off-base. Thankfully engadget sees right through his silly games.

Panasonic Toughbook CF-U1 gets fully detailed, landing in August (Engadget)
Jun 25th 2008 2:56PM Why would they put a numeric keypad in the middle of a querty keyboard? Maybe it makes more sense to the "guy in the field" that's maybe using it to punch in numbers all day to have those keys in the middle and not on the right. Like others have said, I'm not the market for this thing.
Firefox 3 vulnerability, 8 million people affected! (Download Squad)
Jun 21st 2008 11:29AM Usually read engadget, but sometimes check out other blogs mentioned at the bottom. Such poor writing is so rare at engadget. Echoing other comments: Are people "affected!" when it's a private sharing of a security flaw? Since when does beta testing involve trying to hack the software?
This article reads like it was written by someone in high school; and with an even lower degree of awareness of software development than many in even that age bracket. Quite inappropriate to imply a (likely obscure) security flaw "slipped by" their beta testing process, when this is never the intent.
Verizon whines to FCC: make it easier for us to gain market share (Engadget)
Mar 26th 2008 1:42PM I keep reading this article again and again, assuming I must be missing something. How is it that Verizon is "whining" when they are trying to simplify customer choice? Verizon still has to deliver a service valuable enough to consumers for them to want to make the switch in the first place. Are you being paid by the cable companies?

Inventor builds goliath smoke ring generator (Engadget)
Apr 14th 2007 5:13PM This is a neat device. And as far as huge smoke rings, anyone who's been to Burning Man knows of the people that make massive rings probably 100 feet or so in size: http://www.vimeo.com/clip:10537
Smoke rings are cool.
Google Apps is great BUT: GMAIL + Blackberry = Horrible (The Jason Calacanis Weblog)
Apr 13th 2007 4:18PM OK, something changed just today with my hosted gmail account setup on my blackberry. Before it was doing the standard 15-minute pull like BIS does for all standard POP accounts less Yahoo and standard GMail. Today, however, I'm getting my emails delivered within seconds. This is awesome! I'm crossing my fingers this continues. Before, I was pulling messages to my Outlook, and then never getting them delivered to my phone (unless for some reason the 15-minute period came up before Outlook grabbed them).
So far, so good.
