Camtasia 7.1 giveaway and video review (Download Squad)
Nov 20th 2010 5:06PM Many of my colleagues at work swear by Camtasia for their training and support screencasts. Winning a copy for personal use would be awesome...
Facebook 'likes' may now make you vulnerable to spam (Download Squad)
Jul 26th 2010 10:34PM You mean like all the Farmville spam I still get under the old scheme? Or the limited amounts of spam I get from the commercial pages that I've friended? Doesn't sound any different to me. Just a new path for the same kind of junk.
InfoWorld takes misguided jabs at Microsoft over MSE updates (Download Squad)
Jun 6th 2010 8:30AM I wouldn't mind MSE changing the update settings to automatic if MS didn't force new "features" like Silverlight and .Net plugins on users through the updater. This explains why Silverlight suddenly appeared on my laptop after I had denied it every month after patch Tuesday.

Jun 2nd 2010 5:23PM I don't see Process Monitor as an exact analogue, but yeah there's nothing here you can't get with a lot less nagging from either SysInternals or NirSoft.

Mar 4th 2010 3:00PM Nice work. I wouldn't object to a more limited rights license (for example for use in plagiarism detection within the site, plus use of only the version submitted for certain other purposes), but I appreciate the active response. Assuming you have some other revenue stream planned, perhaps give users a choice of how to "pay" to keep you in business with different licensing/rights/payment schemes, for example:
-authorize advertising and data-mining
-grant of license for re-use of material
-cash payment.

Mar 4th 2010 2:50PM With such a comprehensive, unlimited licensing of rights, I would argue (IANAL) that "FREE" constitutes false advertising. Even for an undergraduate paper, I would say that the assigned rights have some value that rises above "free".
