Looking for a few good geeks (Download Squad)

Dec 6th 2007 5:02AM Hiya Grant, got your mail yesterday. Pretty pumped up right now :) Do inform me about the procedures/ethics that need to be followed while posting in DS.

Can't wait for the joining letter...ha ha, no matter how fauxly motivating that is.

Clean your registry and junk files with WiseCleaner (Download Squad)

Nov 29th 2007 7:23AM But is it wise enough to skip through important system files/registry entries? Anyone who've used it care to confirm?

I've used a lot (and I mean a lot) of such "cleaners" before. But only CCleaner has so far been able to securely delete only the "junk" components in my system, not the vital ones. So is this "WISE CLEANER" a patron of the same protege?

Meet iRobo, the Bangladeshi scrapbot (Engadget)

Oct 21st 2007 1:16AM To everyone dissing the aesthetics and ergonomics of this robot and also the eligibility of tEh "Creator" saying he should've either made a mechanized box rigged with C4 or something "Islamic" like that, hey...CAUCASIAN NOOBS, WHY DON'T YOU LEAVE YOUR FERGILICIOUS LIVES AND TRY LIVING HERE IN BANGLADESH?

Can you possibly comprehend how difficult it is to bring a project like this to fruition in Bangladesh? Can you, huh? All you know is how to criticize and mock other inventors based on your Ivy League smug. Well guess what, we still have better neurons..at least more active ones...and we are coming there to take your jobs :) Your self-conflicting immigration laws and your pesky moronic brain waves would be the end of you all.

7 ways to reduce your PC's power consumption (Download Squad)

Oct 18th 2007 12:54AM Well..thats totally worthless in a situation like the one I'm in right now :) Infact, about 80% of the total internet users in the world "don't" have the high-speed broadband lines that the folks at the developed countries enjoy . A 400 mb file takes 72 hrs of non-stop downloading in my connection :( Not to mention, there are power cuts so frequent that one might say "When did the power come back?". But hey, we still get huge loads of electric bills at the end of the month, thanks to our corrupt power-industry (who takes bills from rich industrialists and shoves it up our...ummm, ok).

So, no help for me there, I can probably buy a pirated copy of Vista for less than 18 cents from one of our many local software shops, but who cares.

HowStuffWorks finds a new home at Discovery (Download Squad)

Oct 16th 2007 12:14PM Great. Unless Discovery screws up HSW by forcing the authors to write according to some secret constituions of the U.S media/information moguls, this can turn out to be one sweet takeover.

I wish my blog was bought by someone. That would give me the moolah I need for a Nikon D40

New Tachikoma spider robot on the loose (Engadget)

Oct 13th 2007 8:22AM Looks sweet, but I ain't spending 115 USD on that blue anime paraphernalia. Thats like a months feed for myself and other 3-rd World Country students alike.

G2P - Find Mp3s with google, and skip the P2P (Download Squad)

Mar 16th 2007 11:04AM Tis' is so old :(

Here are a few better ones (including g2p offcourse)

What's your favorite online bookmarking service, and why? - Ask DLS (Download Squad)

Jan 20th 2007 9:00AM I use Furl (http://furl.net). Besides saving your pages as bookmarks, it also caches the page in their server so that you can access it even if the site goes down. I've found this function especially useful

And furl is pretty fast too, unlike del.icio.us which has a bookmarklet that takes eons to load on dial-up

MidnightFox - Today's Mod (Download Squad)

Jan 17th 2007 9:11AM I agree with the first commenter, Midnightfox does suck, big time. Custom icons are often distorted, borders around favicons appear to be overspilling and there are also some compatibility issue..

As for me, Macfox II is by far the best theme out there, better than any faux MAC themes.http://atunu.blogspot.com/2006/09/cant-stop-falling-in-love.html

Web 2.0 logo redesign experiment (Download Squad)

Jul 26th 2006 11:42AM That really is a nice thing to do. I've always argued that the best way to describe the whole web 2.0 fad is with the "Glossy effect" its leaving behind. But most of my friends defined it with craps like "branding the web" and other talks like that (o'my). In my view web 2.0 is all about alterating, ajax and other things starting with "A".
