Windows 7 Service Pack 1 beta invites dispatched; testing to begin shortly (Download Squad)

Jun 16th 2010 4:12AM Is this just a meaningless service pack to convice the ITdepartments of companies that it's safe to go to win7?

HTC offers additional Hero / Droid Eris widgets via Android Market (Download Squad)

Dec 18th 2009 5:35AM I think that selling HTC software for other devices could contribute to a strong brand. If you've been using a HTC software keyboard and you like it, its likely that you will look for an all HTC phone when shoping for a new one.

Windows 7 release date: October 22nd (Download Squad)

Jun 3rd 2009 3:52AM I'm pretty sure it's 2009! It wouldn't make sense to expire the RC until after the real version is commercially available. Then you'd have to switch back to vista before upgrading back to win7... that would be ridiculous!

Openwith.org finds free programs to open unknown file types (Download Squad)

Mar 11th 2009 7:42AM Maybe I'm not in the primary segment for this function, but I think It's a bit annoying that it doesn't suggest the most obvious programs. Fx. If you ask for a program to open PDF's it only suggests foxit. Why not use Acrobat reader, it's as free.

Another one could be docx-files in wordpad-live, instead of only openoffice...

Google rolls out mobile tasks for iPod, Android (Download Squad)

Feb 4th 2009 4:31AM "Don't bother checking gmail.com/tasks from your desktop browser unless you're just after more information...."

Going there will enable you to ad tasks to your iGoogle page. I have been looking fot that, but not found it before.

European regulators could force Microsoft to unbundle Internet Explorer (Download Squad)

Jan 20th 2009 10:55AM When you buy a computer, there is all kinds of software bundled. Even if a computer is sold with an OS that dosn't include a browser, there is little chance of getting a browser free computer.

If Microsoft didn't bundle Explorer, the computer companies would be more likely to sell the computer with another browser eg. Chrome.

Personally I like when a windows function is not more tangled up in the OS than it can still be uninstalled and not missed. This would be a nice option for Explorer

Official MSDN/Technet Windows 7 beta ISO appears on Pirate Bay (Download Squad)

Jan 9th 2009 8:17AM Yes it would indeed be nice if Microsoft used torrents for their distribution, their page is totally dead already. I don't know if they have released yet or if people are just pinging to check...
