Simon & Schuster brings 5,000 eBooks to Scribd (Download Squad)

Jul 5th 2009 1:31PM Sounds like a good, almost inevitable move. But I don't want to read books on my computer screen. I want to move them to an eBook. Can I then move a ScribD computer file to my eBook?

The Daily Grind: Are you online with PlayStation Home? (Massively)

Jan 12th 2009 3:37AM In my opinion, here's the problem: The idea behind home seems to be let's build some real estate that will attract corporations to build here and they'll attract customers by building perfect little worlds for lots of perfect people to live in. Anybody detect what's wrong with the assumptions in this proposition yet? Hint: Disneyland is a fun place to visit once or twice, but would you really want to live there?

The problem is, obviously, there's not a real big need for perfection in cyberville. If fact, it's a complete misunderstanding of the concept. Home is fiction. Ever read a book of fiction that entertained people with perfect people living perfect lives in a perfect world? Didn't think so.

The truth is people want worlds created by people, not corporations. They want to create. They want to put their own imprint, warts and all, on Home, because if they don't, what's the point? They also want to interact in some way that's a little above the intelligence level of a ten year old. Doing the robot for more than 10 seconds just doesn't cut it

If Sony really wants to be successful they need to give the user tools to modify their environment and then get the heck of the way. Enough said.

Linden Lab doubles-back on approved skins (Massively)

Jan 4th 2009 5:29AM Such a fuss about nothing. In the future will avatars have to carry IDs to prove their age? The problem with such nit picking is that it will surely inspire competition. Are you ready for off-shore MMOs?
