As LeBron James Heat Jerseys Sell, Cavs Jerseys Go Up in Smoke (Fanhouse Backporch)
Jul 9th 2010 10:46AM LeBron just stepped down from the same league as Michael Jordan. It's all about LeBron - he had absolutely no sense of the bigger picture - or didn't care about that. Sounds like he made plans with Wade & Bosh to have their contracts all come up at the same time so they could play together. How can you play with all your heart for Cleveland when you are thinking already about how great 'the future' is going to be? And I'm not even a Cleveland fan, but I can tell a classless loser when I see one. New movie coming out - Despicable Me - starring LeBron James.
Kobe's Physical Toughness One-Ups Phil's Foolishness (Fanhouse - Jay Mariotti)
May 18th 2010 1:46PM "..have denounced the Arizona statute that supports the decidedly anti-American concept of local police being empowered to determine a person's immigration status -- and to arrest them if they don't have the official documents. Hell, most people with a good heart and a clear mind understand what's wrong with the law." My mind is VERY clear, and there is nothing wrong with passing a law that supports what the current US law is. Illegal immigrants are just that - illegal - they are here under false pretenses. Now, a large majority of them are God-fearing and good people, but it is the smaller group of them that are lawless and ruthless. When people come to Amercia, it is to be American - even with nods to your heritage - Irish-American, African-American, Arab-American, Mexican-Amercian - that's cool, but all immigrants need to go thru the right channels to become American - LEARN TO SPEAK THE NATIVE LANGUAGE - that is, English. Study & learn American history & government - know how the country runs. Apply for citizen status. And, for gosh sakes, don't be saying that California and parts of the SW should still be apart of Mexico and spew info on overthrowing the US government. Amercia is a melting pot - all past ethnicities and groups that have all become as one - Americans. So, Phil Jackson is right - just because he was a hippie pot-head in the 60's doesn't mean he isn't right.
Face It -- Peyton Manning Just Doesn't Win (Asylum)
Feb 16th 2010 2:36AM Remember, Clifford, that Joe Montana, as outstanding as he was, played before they started to have free agency. Teams were stacked back then - for example - the Cowboys, 49ers - both the dominant teams, and stacked with talent - free agency brought more parity to the league. Remember the days of the football cards that your favorite players stayed on one team - the WHOLE time, or at least, until the last couple of years of their career (eg Montana).
Kurt Warner Announces Retirement (Fanhouse NFL Blog)
Jan 29th 2010 6:56PM Kurt - from one Eastern Iowan who has followed your career with great interest and enthusiasm. I'll be sad to see you go, but it is a fantastic way to leave - once again at the top of your game the last several years and providing us with tremendous air shows week in and week out. Thanks for the memories, and congrats on your future place in the Hall of Fame - if the fans made that choice - you would be inducted next season!
Brett Favre Repeats History, Angers Vikings Announcers (Fanhouse Backporch)
Jan 26th 2010 1:18PM Farve is known for his last second heroics - when it works, we are in awe. When he fails, we castigate him until the end of time. The Vikings totally outplayed the Saints and should have won. This is what Brett was thinking. But his last interception would not have had to happen had there not been three fumbles earlier in the game, and at critical points. Young kids - AP & the receivers - look for the extra yards instead of thinking about tucking that ball in. Shoot, fall on the thing if you have to after you have your yardage for the first down. Moving the chains is the most important thing. Gives you more plays to be able to accomplish something. And the Vikes WERE moving the ball easily against the Saint's D in the second half. Farve did not lose the game - it should never have come to that last second effort that became the interception...
Saints and Their City Finally Get a Break (Fanhouse - Jay Mariotti)
Jan 25th 2010 5:54PM I have to say the Saints were given the game last night. Oh, I think they played hard - D did well. But the Vikings LOST the game - the Saints did not WIN it. Even tho' the Saint's D is great at making people fumble the ball - 6 turnovers in a game will cause you to lose. And even then, the Vikes almost pulled it out. A lot of very bad calls in the game - on both teams. And there are many instances of where there should have been more roughing the passer calls against the Saints. They went out with the goal of taking Farve out of the game, and essentially they did. He was a wreck by the end from all the hits he took - both legal and the illegal, hard ones. I am not a Vikings or a Saints fan - (Go Steelers)! But seemed like the Vikes were fighting an uphill battle against their own 'butterfingers', and then the refs. Oh, and yes, Farve throwing interceptions at the end of the game (don't tell me it was 'classic Farve' - I'm sure if you were 40 yrs old and being hit that hard so many times, you'd not be thinking straight either. And as far as the Saints game plan went - they won that fight.)
Florida State's Zebrie Sanders Doesn't Get Out of His Stance (Fanhouse Backporch)
Dec 7th 2009 12:56AM The young man probably had a seizure - sometimes people have these where it looks like they are day dreaming instead of the jerking motion (tonic-clonic movements) most people think seizures are. If that's the case, it could very well have been from a head injury related to the game. That's probably why nothing was said following the game regarding his behavior. It is sort of amazing to watch the play, tho'
John Kerry's Daughter Arrested on Suspicion of Driving Under the Influence (Politics Daily)
Nov 19th 2009 6:57PM The comments make it sound that it was 'no big deal' that she was pulled over and found DUI, because she wasn't 'legally drunk'. It is NEVER o.k. to drive under the influence of ANYTHING. If my kid was pulled over and charged, but not drug, there would be a very big fine to pay and a 'dink' against his license. But, really, it is NO BIG DEAL because she is a senator's daughter!
The Election's Carry-Over Lessons? There Are Fewer Than You Think. (Politics Daily)
Nov 4th 2009 12:18PM To address those liberals who want to minimize the impact of this telltale election - the election results reflect the changing sentiments of voters against the Democratic nonsense happening in the House & Senate - trying to use their overwhelming majority to try to push thru policies the people do not agree with, i.e. healthcare, energy, etc. The more that Obama starts to 'hang' with his more liberal 'buddies', the more the independent voters will lean back towards Republicans, as is evidenced in these 'unimportant' elections. Even the Rep. loss in the NY district was very telling - loss by only 5,000 votes - a lot closer I sure than many Democrats wanted to see. People are sick and tired of being 'dissed' by the Liberals, who laugh and belittle the populist movement that is happening, and attributing it to 'right wing extremists' directing the movement. Was this a message to Obama - oh, yes siree, it was. Look how much time and effort that Obama spent 'stumping' for those Democrat Governor candidates - with no results. Sort of a downer, don't ya think???
Redskins Ban Signs From FedEx Field For Safety Reasons (Fanhouse Backporch)
Oct 28th 2009 4:26PM Dan Snyder has the ego of the Titanic - and, remember, that ship SANK, too. This guy needs to learn to trust those he hires, and let them make personel decisions - he can give his input, but bottom line is that the coaching staff needs to have total control. Hell, he has failed so far, could it HURT to step aside for a year or two and give the coaching staff a chance? Spending tons of money to get big name players that may or may not have good chemistry on the team doesn't do any good if you ain't winnin'.
