Mac 101: Put your display to sleep fast (TUAW.com)

Jan 18th 2009 8:03PM Finally! I wanted this for so long!
I usually use a hot corner but doing it from the keyboard will make it much easier for other people to use my imac without accidentally having the screen go off...
YAY!

Pangea updates Enigmo for iPhone to 1.1.1, adds downloadable content (TUAW.com)

Aug 11th 2008 2:00AM I'm so glad I bought this app, its a great show-off app and they keep improving it.
I love this game.

Apple had a bad day (TUAW.com)

Jul 12th 2008 4:00AM This isnt the only thing apple effed up recently...
I work at a reseller, and we have a custom store on apple's website, and the third party that was doing an overhaul on the backend of apple's website screwed something up and ended up deleting almost every custom store on the website. Thus we're all kinds of screwed and they cant even get it fixed right away.
It was just not a good week for apple.

Apple to sell iPhone 3G on college campuses? (TUAW.com)

Jun 13th 2008 9:51PM I would love to finally have iPhones at my campus store (I work at it). Unfortunately I cant imagine them actually getting it rolled out to many schools quickly, apple's business side is notoriously slow, and rarely has a clue whats going on within its own departments. I think that they're most likely going to get to some stores on time, but most campuses will probably have to wait a while before they can start doing iphones.

Apple Design Awards 2008 (TUAW.com)

Jun 12th 2008 11:46PM The fact that Guitar Hero 3 won for best leopard game just goes to show you the sad state of Mac gaming.
I had a brand new iMac (basically the only computer the game actually ran on) and the game was unplayable on anything but the lowest res with the crowd OFF and even then it wasn't registering notes well.
Also, the first version of it wouldn't exit properly, it had a memory leak when it quit that forced you to reboot, and when it quit the windowserver would interact at glacial speeds.
Guitar Hero 3 may not have taken a single developer 2 minutes, but I'm fairly certain that the developers in question had never seen a Mac before.

A low cost guide to making music with your Mac, part two (TUAW.com)

Jun 3rd 2008 7:20PM Also not mentioned was Digital Performer, which is a ~$500 DAW that I personally used quite a lot, and found very nice and pretty easy to get around in. It does great when you're trying to do both Midi and Audio, and I believe it can integrate with ProTools in certain ways (Like using the ProTools recording engine and hardware and plugins).
It can also use non-MOTU interfaces and outputs, which is great for most laptop users.
Also I think that it does most of the things ProTools can do, which is certainly overkill, but this one's overkill in a non-bad way IMO.

Mac users don't like people touching their stuff (TUAW.com)

May 31st 2008 4:53PM @ Knoa
I do this all the time, I work at my Uni's Computer store where we have demos of computer but not the iPod touches that we also sell. If someone has questions about the iPod Touch I often offer to let them try my iPhone. While I supervise of course...

Lancaster mall to get Apple store in fall (TUAW.com)

May 30th 2008 2:01PM If its such drivel then why do you go out of your way to complain? Just shut up and move along.

EDGE and 3G and tripping down memory lane (TUAW.com)

May 30th 2008 1:55PM Personally I've got no gripes with EDGE, its fast enough for when you're using it to get a certain specific thing done while you're out and about. I mostly use it when I'm out doing something else so those page load times are usually filled with me taking care of real life. I regularly turn off WiFi while I'm on my college campus (which is blanketed about 85% with wifi) just because edge is less painful to use while walking than logging in to the wifi every time i switch AP. Its great for email and IM through meebo and such, as well as reading little things or important info you just need on the go. 3G will be great but I will most likely not turn it on except in rare situations of me actually using the iphone as a regular browsing device.
