Ask Engadget: Best small camera (with good video) under $600? (Engadget)

May 8th 2009 7:48AM the sony t900 is the best one i've found

after trying the lx3, it is nice, but has mono sound that is tunnel like, needs a pain in the @ss lens cap, and is HUGE and HEAVY

the little canon's are nice and tiny, but also are mono sound, have no zoom during video, and i had lots of problems with the lens getting stuck half way with my is1100 (last year's model), they also only have a 3x zoom

the new little sony is the best of both worlds. it is tiny and light and has a built in lens cover. it is nearly toddler proof. it takes very nice point and shoot pictures (no raw option, though). the video is very good all around, and the stereo sound makes all the difference, you CAN use the OPTICAL ZOOM during video recording, and best of all, the focus is not set during video recording like almost all other point and shoots that i've tried

the only other one that even comes close on specs is the newer panasonic with "hd lite", but I"m pretty sure you can't use the zoom during video / it has mono sound / it's noticeably bigger and heavier

iPhone 2.2 firmware is out, with Street View and podcasts (Download Squad)

Nov 21st 2008 3:43PM I'm not sure 'bout the huge advance with podcasts, except that they now seem to be available through the iTunes iPhone app. I can't easily download additional episodes of a particular podcast without getting shuffled to the main iTunes app page, having to do a search, and then downloading episodes individually. It's not a real timesaver, but I guess if you're not at home and want another episode it's (just) okay. Am I missing something? Isn't this just Apple adding some free stuff in the iPhone iTunes app, not automated podcasting over the air. Over sell.

The google voice app was a much bigger deal than this.
