Evernote comes to the BlackBerry (Download Squad)

Jun 3rd 2009 10:08PM So many things. First of all this works on OS 4.5. The information is wrong. I have it on my Sprint 8330 Curve running 4.5.

It may be better or worse than iPhone edition. I've heard the iPhone version crashes a LOT. So I haven't tried it on my iPod Touch.

I use multiple computers, and having data at my fingertips without having to remember where I put it is excellent.

I'm still working out all the ways to use it, but for me it is a nice addition to my productivity tools.

We get it, Windows means cheap hardware (TUAW.com)

May 18th 2009 12:49PM First of all, the commercials are very effective. Despite what all of the cool rich Mac owners think, there are people who must consider price when buying a computer. Microsoft knows that there are a lot more of those people than there are cool rich people. Microsoft also knows that no matter how much you pay for a PC, you will get Windows with it. So guess what? The more PC's they sell, the more Windows sells. Simple math.

So you can argue all day long about how if you stuff a bunch of crap on the Windows machine it will almost cost as much as a Mac. At the end of the day it won't cost as much as a Mac. Megan will buy the PC and with it she will make Microsoft a new customer.

And to all of you who purchase a Mac to run Windows software. Whether with Parallels or Bootcamp, you are still paying the premium price for OS X, plus a Windows license to run XP or Vista. Guess what? Microsoft got a customer there too.

Microsoft doesn't care if you have the money to buy a Mac. They know many Mac owners end up buying Windows to run software that isn't available for OS X. Which makes all of these arguments look silly.

Chicago transit bans GTA IV ads (Joystiq)

Apr 21st 2008 12:40PM I was going to make the same point. Alcohol is a legal substance that "may" lead to dangerous behavior if used improperly. Grand Theft Auto is a Felony in ever state and city in the country. advertising of one cannot honestly be compared to the other.

It'd be like comparing GTA ads to ads for swimming pools simply because they both can lead to deaths. Dumb comparison.

Mo-capoeira game coming Q4 2008 (Joystiq)

Apr 11th 2008 1:29PM For the few of us who saw The Rock's movie "The Rundown" a few years back, this was the fighting style of the jungle guerrillas that he had so much trouble with. Lots of movement and action.

Crysis sales in crisis; UT3 gets fragged too (Joystiq)

Jan 5th 2008 2:48AM My problem is that I cannot and will not play First Person Shooters on the console until they get full and complete mouse/keyboard support. Call me spoiled (true) call me ancient (very true) but FPS's just are not meant to play on a gamepad/joystick.

So I play on the PC and I always buy my games to support the PC gaming community. Plus I have 30+ PC games on my system, most of which don't even exist in the Console market.

TBH I bought Gears of War for the PC and was completely pissed off when I found it really didn't play well with the keyboard because they ported it so badly. But I am very happy with Crysis, COD4, ETQW, Orange Box, MOH: Airborne and UT3 on my PC. So GoW will probably get sold off.

On age discrimination (WoW)

Jan 2nd 2008 4:02PM I have to say that guilds should be allowed to specify age limits for a number of reasons already stated.

As to maturity, it can be complex. For instance, at age 12 our daughter was extremely mature. When she hit 16 she went rebellious and made some very unwise decisions. When she got to 19 the switch reset and she now calls us on a regular basis to apologize for being such a pain as a teen ager. Hormones are NOT your friend.

I don't think most younger people have a good handle on their own maturity. As a yardstick, if you have ever used the phrase "Why won't you treat me like an adult?" you probably aren't aware of your own maturity and how others see you. Our response to our daughter was always "As soon as you start making decisions like an adult." Today she understands...

Hawk Wings lists 10 Mac OS X tools for Getting Things Done (TUAW.com)

Had ya beat. I just got up and had the beer. Avoided the whole "Things I should do" list, as it is even more annoying than Mail.app...
