Oct 26th 2006 12:44AM I personally wanted Destinations from the beginning but it got cut early. I suppose out of the final 6 apps I liked Whistler and Portal the most. Portal sounds like a good idea and being a multiple mac user I might even give it a shot, but it is going to have to offer something that no other app can do and do it extremely well in order for me to move away from my current mish-mash of free apps.

Jul 9th 2006 2:28PM I agree that the lack of no DTS or Dolby Digital support puts this in the pretty much useless category for me. Right now the only way I know to get AC3 pass through on my intel iMac is through DVD Player or VLC. It still says they are working on adding this to a future release but I guess 2.0 wasn't what they meant by a future release.

Newsfire first Univeral newsreader? (TUAW.com)

Jan 18th 2006 9:14PM Newsfire is hands down the best RSS newsreader available for OS X. I know there are a lot of Netnewswire people out there in TUAW land but it doesn't match the sheer beauty and simplicity of newsfire. Dave has some of the best OS X applications available such as Acquisition and Inquisitor. I highly suggest everyone check his stuff out. Oh and it's also cool that it is a Un-Bin.

Jul 28th 2005 4:53PM I agree. I have been using it since the original command line tool but given time and the developers willingness, I think it will improve a lot. A widget would be nice but to me it isn't that important. Now we just need someone to figure a way to un-encrypt directshow TTG files on a mac without virtual pc. I know it is a longshot but I can still dream can't I?

Jul 28th 2005 12:19PM All I can say is Disgusting!! Way to cluttered, it almost looks like a game that comes free on cd-rom out of a box of fruit loops. GreatNews looks a lot cleaner from the screenshots. I use Newsfire at home (OS X) but since I play a windows user at work I have yet to find anything that can compare to Newsfire or Netnewswire on OS X.

Jul 28th 2005 11:50AM Yes you can get tivo Desktop to work but not with Tivo To Go. You can only use the mac tivo desktop for HMO options such as HME, Music, and photos. I have been using tivotool for a while now and I love it. I know there are other mac solutions but I have a direcTivo so there is no re-encoding of the video. Also I don't want my PVR tied to my computer I want it to stand on it's own and you can't beat tivos UI. Too bad directv will stop supporting them. I just hope I can still use it after the support stops.

Jun 20th 2005 10:51AM I submitted this as a tip about two months ago! :) I don't really care I just wanted to whine hence my name for the post. If you could add more storage or add a place for a firewire drive or another means of storage, network, etc. I think that would really boost the cool factor. Just think a Mini with 1TB of storage hosting my entire iTunes, DVD, and Pr0n collection. Now how much will this thing cost? /stops playing the violin and gets back to the real world.

May 17th 2005 2:42PM My favorite part of the upgrade is that my iPhoto Flickr plugin is stable. In 10.4 it was very unstable and crashed all the time but after the update I have been able to export hundreds of photos to my flickr account. Yay for OS updates!!
