Jolicloud pre-beta now ready for download, and I love it (Download Squad)
Dec 10th 2009 4:03PM Downloading now. Can't wait to try it out. I have a Lenovo X200 laptop with Windows 7 running on it just fine. However, if I power it down and want to boot up quickly to check email, etc...I hate waiting for windows to load, services to load, login popups (jungledisk, etc).
I tried Chrome and it sucks - too buggy. Every other "netbook" OS wasn't what I was looking for. Jolicloud looks awesome, but I haven't heard much about it and essentially assumed that it sucked. I signed up for the alpha preview anyways, and got an invite last week - but again, since I never heard much about it before, I just shrugged it off and never got around to testing it out. I'll report back on how it is on my "non-netbook" / regular laptop (no touchpad - just the nipple).
Chrome OS 'Diet' version fits on a 1GB USB key, brings more WiFi support (Engadget)
Nov 30th 2009 3:51PM Put it on a 2GB usb thumb drive. Launched it on my Lenovo X200.
Mouse "nipple" works. Resolution sucks. Not defaulting to the native screen resolution. No menu bar up top (can't see devices, etc.). I can see the apps that come with it, but it won't let me launch or click any of them.
I'll wait a while for a better version. It would be nice to have it installed on an SD card (since my laptop has an SD card slot built in), for a quick launch from power up to check email. But this version is crappy at the moment, at least on my machine.
Fishbowl is a kick-ass Facebook client for Windows 7 (Download Squad)
Nov 20th 2009 12:42PM I love this app so far. It'll make it easier for my girlfriend to maneuver facebook as well. Only things I found so far that I don't like:
-Cant delete status or comments/info from your page.
-When looking at my profile, go to the bottom, and there is no options for "more". I dont see an option to see "more" of the wall (load additional comments/status updates)
Comcast announces new bandwidth throttling scheme (update: old news) (Engadget)
Nov 5th 2009 4:08PM Glad I dont have comcast anymore. This is stupid. If you pay for 15mbps, you should be able to use the full 15mbps for as long as you want. They need to put this is big bold letters on their website.
That's like a phone company saying that you have unlimited data, then forcing you down to EDGE after you stream a youtube video for 3 minutes.
Screen Grabs: Nokia N96 preserves the evidence on Dexter (Engadget)
Oct 21st 2009 12:07PM Meh. Dexter isn't huge on showing off gadgets.
In regards to this episode, it was AWESOME. Totally an unexpected cliffhanger and I can't wait until this Sunday's episode!

Oct 9th 2009 4:30PM Your comments are FAIL. Learn to use proper English grammar and punctuation, and perhaps people won't vote you down.
Troll elsewhere.
AT&T now allowing iPhone VoIP calls over 3G (Engadget)
Oct 6th 2009 5:22PM They probably realized after the MMS fiasco that the majority of people wont use it. I'd bet that the majority of iPhone owners aren't MMSing often. So if you make the FCC and customers shutup by offering something that maybe 5% of iPhone owners will use, it'll save them trouble in the long run.
Microsoft handing out Windows 7 Launch Party host confirmations (Engadget)
Sep 22nd 2009 10:03AM I got an email last night that said I had to be one of the first to confirm. I was luckily checking my email at the time they sent it, and I logged in and it automatically confirmed me as a host. They had you pick between 3 categories "media, family/friend entertainment" etc. I guess they give different packages based on the category you chose. Of course I was in a rush, and just selected family/friend entertainment.
Regardless, the host gets 1 limited edition Windows 7 Ultimate Edition copy, balloons, streamers, Windows 7 playing cards, Windows 7 puzzle, and a couple other small things. Good thing I didn't jump on the $30 student upgrade price!
