Sep 30th 2006 4:31PM As the project manager for Media Center's PVR User Experience and Platform for the past 4 releases, I have to say this is really awesome. I wish more people would use the public APIs available for Media Center's recording functions.
Bill Gates quitting day-to-day duties at Microsoft (Engadget)
Jun 15th 2006 8:01PM As a Microsoft employee, it's bittersweet seeing Bill move on. I've never regarded him as egotistical, and I've had many interactions with him. It could be interesting seeing him apply the same fire to vaccinations and education that he did to software proliferation. He has the resources to make a huge difference.
Daytime programs viewed live more than primetime shows (PVR Wire)
Dec 5th 2005 11:40PM One figure that is conspicously missing is the breakdown in total audience between syndicated and prime-time. It would also be cool to see the demographics, since I think its getting more diverse with these devices. These numbers are very interesting though. I think there's an implicit message on the value people place on this content. I don't bother recording syndicated shows because I don't value them as highly as prime time. As for the 'live plus one day' analysis - If I record 3 days of Inside Edition, and on the 3rd day I want to watch Inside Edition, I'm certainly more likely to watch today's episode since I'm confident I'll be able to pick up the nuanced debate over Britney's marital tribulations. I wonder if other non-syndicated daily shows have the same breakdown. I have the Daily Show set to keep at most 1 episode so I have at least 1 every day, but that's it. I know others that do the same with Sports Center. But there's a clear message here - its easier to reach a near-air-time audience with syndicated programming.
MCE Project Manager on Apple Front Row: Bring it On (PVR Wire)
Dec 1st 2005 3:25PM Absolutely no 'bragging' here. Please read my full post. I was commenting that given all of the components required for this feature, its interesting thinking about how Apple would approach it. I'm excited to interact with you folks more. I posted a bio on Thomas' site to introduce myself formally if anyone's interested. http://thomashawk.com/2005/11/microsoft-media-center-project-manager.html#links
